SEMI FINAL AT CRIEFF

Although we all commiserate with Allan Easton after he was knocked out in the Semi final stages of the P&K County Boys Championship at Crieff on Sunday we also would like to say how very proud we are of him in making it so far in the competition. Iain and I were delighted to walk round the course supporting Allan on Sunday, he certainly was a credit to Strathmore Golf Club.
Allan was 4 down with 5 to play but he never let his head go down or stopped trying, in fact he battled on until he was defeated, by the eventual title winner Thomas White, on the 17th green which was the furthest any player took Thomas in a match all weekend.

Allan has two more years in which he can compete in this event and the experience he has gained over the last two years will stand him in good stead for the future.

WHAT A WEEK FOR ALLAN EASTON

Allan this week became the first junior at Strathmore to achieve a handicap of four. At his current handicap he will lead out the junior scratch league team and may also take part in the gents scratch league team.

Allan was invited yesterday to play in a pro-am event organised by Perth and Kinross at Gleneagles which must have inspired him today because he progressed to the semi final stages of the Perth and Kinross Under 18's Strokeplay Championship at Crieff by winning his first round match on the 18th hole with a birdie 3 for a one under par round. In his quarter final tie Allan won a convincing 4&3 and was 2 under par at this stage.

We wish Allan all the best for next week at Crieff, he is certainly putting not only Strathmore Juniors but Strathmore Golf Club on the map! Allan began his golfing aspirations at Strathmore and he is certainly testimony to the way Strathmore Golf Club encourages all junior members and makes them all most welcome within the Gents and Ladies Sections.

HAMISH McTAVISH CUP

Congratulations to Michael Brodie who not only returned the best scratch score of 36 but also the best nett score of 26. This Trophy rounds off a great week for Michael who entered and won the Gents Wednesday Bogey competition reducing his handicap from 21 to 20. This was his first event since making Strathmore his home club and there is no doubt with his talent and with the encouragement of the club members, he will reduce his handicap even further.

Full results were as follows:

Michael Brodie 26
Josh McKenna 28
Hannah Robb 29

WHAT A WINNING WEEK!!

Strathmore Juniors are certainly making their mark on the club, county and country fixtures. Emily after her success at Craigielaw reduced her handicap again in the Ladies Spring meeting where she was pipped by Hannah Robb who won with a nett 63. Allan Easton who had performed well at Royal Aberdeen followed up playing well at Blairgowrie and then qualifying 7th at Crieff in the County Strokeplay and we all wish him well in next Sunday's knock out stages. Josh Mckenna like Hannah followed up his maiden victory with back to back wins taking the Gent's Spring meeting with a nett 67 , reducing his handicap from 28 to 24 over 8 days. Brad Bannerman then playing in the P & K Under 14 Coaching Medal at Blairgowrie shot a gross 77 nett 55 to win the Handicap Section. The Junior Committee would like to congratulate all 4 on their individual successes which helps put Strathmore Junior Section firmly on the map. Well done to all the other Juniors who also played its great to see so many Strathmore Juniors participating in club, county and National events.
