ISLA PRIMARY

Dawn and I held a taster session for Isla Primary School as part of their Health Week and have discovered another amazing prospect in Lucy. Her ball striking was phenomenal, she listened and put into practice what she was told. During the last 17 years I have watched 1000’s of youngster hit balls and only a few have natural talent and make it look easy and she is definitely up there with the best. Fingers crossed she enjoyed it so much she will come back to our Girls Hub.
All 6 girls did well and enjoyed the experience and hopefully a few of them will decide to try the Girls Hub.

COACHING

Second night of coaching and it’s amazing how much fun the youngsters are having. Kathryn has included a lot of exciting concepts which relates to the swing and generating speed and also aspects relating to pitching. Tonight Luke’s driving was nearly off the charts !! and the range. Archie short game was unbelievably consistent. Shane’s potential was remarked on.
Monday - Ben’s improvement was tremendous with all the others making huge progress.
Can’t wait to see the coaching results transfer to the course scores.

BELL SALVER

Today we hosted Blairgowrie and Dunning and what a way to start the 2 Leagues.

Our young team took on the Blairgowrie team and Tom led them out and got ahead early and never relinquished his lead. Keir was similar and at his young age used his experience of playing at this level and held on for a great win. Olly was on fire and holing from 25 feet for a par on the 3rd and a tremendous birdie on the long 5th helped him take a big lead he held until finishing his game on the 14th. Saoirse found herself 4 down after 7 and fought back to take the lead and was dormie on 17, unfortunately she lost the last 2 holes. The Blairgowrie team played very well but our team secured a fantastic win in the “local derby” and all 4 of them should be very proud tonight.

Strathmore (1) v Blairgowrie

Tom Stevenson won 3&2 v Charlie Burke
Keir Reid won 2&1 v Zack Barrell
Olly Stevenson won 5&4 v Alasdair Brass
Saoirse Sangerman halved v Murray Donaldson

Final result - Strathmore 3.5 - Blairgowrie 0.5

Stuart led out our older team and all of them were giving shots. He was up in the early stages but his opponent got into a 4 up lead and Stuart fought back to 1 down after 16 but lost out on the 17th. Archie played well and was 4 up but lost 3 on the bounce but kept his cool and won 4&2. Louis who’s match play record is superb, did his usual, his consistency
put him ahead and he ran out a convincing 5&3 winner. Cammy was 4 down but never gives in. He fought back, got ahead and finished his match 2&1. Overall a great team result and again all 4 players should be very proud tonight. I know Dawn and I definitely are.

Strathmore (2) v Dunning

Stuart Duncan lost 2&1 v Joe Ross
Archie Pattullo won 4&2 v Lachlan Dodd
Louis Purdie won 5&3 v Sam Dodd
Cameron Galloway won 2&1 v Oli Kimber

Final result- Strathmore 3 - Dunning 1

Apologies to Cameron, for some reason the photograph we took never came out. The wind must have blown the cover over the lens !

MAY MEDAL AND MUCH MORE

Cameron Galloway scored an impressive nett 72 in extremely difficult conditions today. Very windy with a cool North Wind. Special mention for Conan Reid who played with the Gents in the morning and shot a gross 72.

Today I had another enquiry for junior membership and another about buying our ex club hire sets to help their scheme.

DULLATUR GOLF CLUB

Absolutely fantastic to be able to help Dullatur Golf Club get their own Club Hire Scheme up and running. I was originally contacted by Kirsty Hamilton who had seen a post on the Scottish Golf Noticeboard. Today Club Captain Frankie Bannachan and Junior Convenor Paul Orr came along to pick up 5 of our ex hire sets we had sold them for £100. If they rent them out for £25 per annum they will recoup their outlay and the £25 profit can be reinvested into their scheme, giving them a head start.

Strathmore Golf Centre gave them courtesy to play and we had a great chat during our round. Both were impressed by everything we have at Strathmore, the course, which they couldn’t stop complimenting on, the practice facilities, the catering and most importantly the junior section and what we have in place. Dawn and I have been invited down on the 6th of June and can’t wait to see how many of our ideas they have implemented.

Making golf affordable and playing with appropriate equipment is what the Club Hire Scheme allows and our template can be replicated at any Club.

ROUTE 36

What an amazing success, the juniors loved it. Special mentions to Mia, Willow and Ollie who excelled. Hugo also had his first 2.

FANTASTIC GENEROUS DONATION

Dawn and I would like to thank Robin Duncan on behalf of Strathmore Golf Club Junior Section for his generous donation of £500. He is the Captain of Royal Perth Golfing Society, who play many of their events at Strathmore, and had heard about the work we do. The money will be used to purchase Range Finders to be added to our Hire Scheme and the income generated will be reinvested, enhancing the sustainability ad infinitum. Tomorrow we have another huge announcement to make so watch this space.
