I thought being invited to the Garden Party at the Palace of Holyrood was going to be the highlight but was I mistaken. As we stood waiting for the King to meet and greet the selected invitees, he passed just in front of us. He had looked at my kilt and then turned back and came across to shake our hands and have a chat. He said how smart we looked and then asked us where we came from and knew where Alyth was, he asked how long it took us to get down then wished us a happy day before moving off to continue his royal duties. What an honour to be able to say you’ve shaken hands and chatted to the King.
