WHAT A FANTASTIC DAY!

What a brilliant day we had at Strathmore yesterday, the only downside for us all was the most awful weather!! Each and everyone of us, golfers and helpers were soaked at some point in the day! However that did not stop each and every one of our winners being under their handicap! Well done all.

We had some great home success's with Megan Aird and Hannah Robb winning both the girls top prizes of the Loyal Leisure Scratch and Handicap Plates respectively. Megan returned a scratch score of 81 and Hannah returned a handicap score of 70. Emily Aird was also in the prizes, she received third handicap with a nett 71. Rory Tinker headed the Strathmore Boys in the prizes winning the handicap section of the 14 and overs with a nett 71. Rory is having a brilliant season, he has to date reduced his playing handicap from 25 to 12. Amazing Rory, you have done extremely well, AWESOME in fact!!

Brilliant day was had by all but special thanks must go to David Norman as it was his idea to hold a Junior Open, he also funded the whole event and provided all the vouchers and trophies. So a huge thank you to David. Also thanks must go to Jane who helped with the entries and the draw and Jackie and David Douglas for preparing the cards and the board. Also thanks to the helpers on the day they were Jane, Jackie, Mark Truswell, Mark Tinker, Fergus and Lewis. Also to Iain who took the photo's above, if you would like any of the photo's to be forwarded please contact me and I will be happy to forward them on.

It was a day which was enjoyed by all, players and helpers alike!

DAILY TELEGRAPH & RANNALEROCH TROPHY

Today saw the Daily Telegraph qualifier and the Rannaleroch Trophy being held over the 18 hole course. Seven boys and girls came along to play and the standard of play was fantastic. The Daily Telegraph qualifier is a scratch tournament and the Rannaleroch is handicap. So there was something for everyone. The best scratch boy and girl go forward for the Daily Telegraph and the overall best handicap score wins the Rannaleroch Trophy (either boy or girl).

The winner of the Boys Daily Telegraph was Rory Tinker with a great score of 83 and the winning girl was Megan Aird with a fantastic 81. Great scores by both well done. The winner of the Rannaleroch Trophy was Emily Aird who returned a fantastic 66!! Well done Emily.

The full results were as follows:

Scratch
Megan Aird 81
Rory Tinker 83
Emily Aird 83

Handicap
Emily Aird (17) 66
Megan Aird (11) 70
Rory Tinker (13) 70
Hannah Robb (35) 71

As you can see the scoring was fantastic, Well done all of you!!

DID YOU SPOT THEM??

A Housemartin nested in the driving range this spring and after lots of hiding away she produced 3 chicks. They were the talking point of many a golf lesson!!

Juniors at Monifieth

Sunday the 13th saw Emily Aird, Frankie Moran, Hannah Robb and Brad Bannerman take part in the Monifieth Junior Links Competition. We finish in mid position which was a very credible result. As our average age was 12 years.

CONGRATULATIONS ALLAN

Many congratulations go to our Junior Champion Allan Easton who has played his way into the finals of the Dunfermline Building Society Junior Masters. Allan played at Dunblane yesterday in the Central Regional final and will now play at Gleneagles on the Queen Course Oct 12th.

A qualifying round was played at Strathmore and Allan, Rory, Megan and Emily made it through however only Allan and Rory could play at Dunblane as Megan and Emily were playing at the Scottish Girls at Alyth, they are playing in the regional final at Duff House Royal in August and we wish them luck.

Whilst Emily and Megan were at Alyth, both girls qualified for the 2nd flight matchplay stages unfortunatley both we knockout but Emily did go on to win the net prize of the consolation round.

Well done our juniors!

GOOD LUCK MATTHEW!
Junior Captain Matthew Bell has played his way into the Strathmore Gents Club Championship final which will take place on Saturday. This is a 36 hole event with the morning tee time at 9.07. Junior Elite Squad Convener and reigning Club Champion Iain Butchart is his opponent in the final so I am sure this will be an excellent match played in great spirit.
Please come along and watch this game and support your Junior Captain.

JUNIOR FINAL
The junior Club Championship final will take place on Sunday 6th July at 11.52. The finalists are Grant Martin who won his match against semi-finalist Matthew Bell and Allan Easton who won his semi final match against Megan Aird. Allan and Megans match was a repeat of last year's final when both met in the final and Allan won the match.
We are very proud of all our juniors, their behaviour both on and off the course is exemplary and I am sure this will continue on into the final. The two finalists golf has be of a very high standard and the final will be a great match to watch. So please let's try to come along and support the boy's on the day!

A LITTLE QUIZ!!

Below is two photo's and what we would like you all to do is to try (a) spot the difference and (b) tell us what both are.

This may prove to be a little harder for some. Answers will be posted later, or just ask Allan!

SCRATCH LEAGUE TEAM PLAY AUCHTERARDER

Our scratch league team made their way to Auchterarder on Sunday encountering some of the most fabulous farmyard creatures on route (ask Allan!). But nobody was sheepish about the matches they took on an away team for the first time and the result was a fantastic all square.

This really is a brilliant result away from home. Well done all.

Sunday was also the first airing of our Scratch League Team's Uniform and isn't it smart? Below a a few photos of the new look team. Let me know what you think!
