JUNIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP 3rd QUALIFIER

Junior Captain Michael Brodie nearly became a member of the 60's club when he shot his best ever round of 70 to lead todays field with a net 66 just ahead of Frankie Henvey with a net 67 (which will be good enough for him to gain his full Congu handicap) and Alex Simpson with a net 70.
CSS for today was 70.

PROBABLY OUR BEST TEAM RESULT EVER

Today our Juniors took a huge stride forward by qualifying to the semi finals of the Bell Trophy. Hannah Robb led out the team and standing on the 8th tee found herself 4 down but battled back to be 1 up after 17 but lost the 18th and the game went up the 19th. Kirsty Brodie had built up a commanding 4 hole lead then lost 4 holes in a row but turned the match around by winning 14,15 and  16 to secure our 1st point on the board. Alex Simpson was always ahead and despite having to give his opponent 14 shots ran out an easy 5&3 winner. With 2 points secured Tod Bannerman who was 2 down with 2 to play , Callum Ewan who lost 16 to be all square and Hannah who holed a six footer on the 19th to take her match to the 20th the result was still in the balance. Despite having 2 points secured we still needed another 1 to win. Tod won 17 to take his game to the last and Callum birdied the 17th to go 1up. The 18th became a log jam when Tod's opponent missed the green and they called Callum through, missing the green right Callum got up and down for a 3 to secure the 1 point remaining for a fantastic win. Although Hannah lost the 20th to a birdie 4 net 3, Tod won the last with a great par to half his match and as we had already secured the 3 points required we agreed to finish the match 3 & 1/2 v 1 & 1/2 .

I cannot be more proud of all 5 players who displayed such great desire and really dug in to secure our semi final place . Well done to you all.

JUNIOR BELL TROPHY

Saturday 16th see Strathmore Juniors travel to Scone to take on Murrayshall in the Quarter Final of the Junior Bell.
Hannah Robb, Kirsty Brodie, Alex Simpson, Tod Bannerman and Callum Ewan make up the team and I am confident they can acheive the right result and see Strathmore reach the semi final stages.

ALEXEI KEEPS STRATHMORE FLAG FLYING HIGH

Alexei played his second competition of the season "The Moscow Junior Tour" at Kurkino Golf Course (9 hole - par 28). The 2 day tournament is an age grouped scratch event. He played in the 10 and under category and after scoring a very respectable 38 (including a birdie 2 on the 2nd) found himself 2 shots behind the overnight leader. Day 2 was played in steady drenching drizzle but as as one Russian father was heard to joke, tongue in cheek, the weather conditions were a distinct advantage to the "Scottish player" who certainly overcame them and returned a tremendous 36 giving him a total of 74 and a 5 shot win! - 100% played/won record

Well done Alexei from the Junior Section look forward to seeing you during the Summer holidays

1st HOLE IN ONE

A very excited Hannah Robb text me tonight to let me know she had just scored her first hole in one. The par 3 15th hole at Scotscraig. A well hit 6 iron found the target and helped Hannah qualify for the knockout stages of the Scotscraig Ladies Club Championship knock out stages. Well done Hannah, an achievement not every golfer attains but one every golfer dreams of.

STRATHMORES LATEST PERTH AND KINROSS DEBUTANTS

Congratulations and good luck to our 2 latest County players Tod Bannerman and Alex Simpson who have been selected to represent Perth and Kinross on the 1st of July at Kinross in the Under 14 match against Lothian. Both boys have deservedly played themselves into the team with great performances in the Under 14 Coaching Medal and the Under 14 Trophy. Strathmore have produced another 2 County players who will make up a 3rd of the 6 player team. I am so proud of our Juniors and their achievments and they keep on raising the bar which is a credit to Strathmore and themselves.
