WHAT BAD WEATHER ?

Kirsten attended her first team building session with the Scottish Golf “Young Persons Panel” at Kirkcaldy yesterday. She really enjoyed it and and was given the chance to express her views on encouraging how to get people into Golf. She used Strathmore as an example with our Unique Club Hire Scheme and also all the inclusive fun competitions we run for the juniors. I believe Kirsten can have a huge impact on shaping Golf in Scotland for generations to come.
Today we had our latest Fun Sunday Texas Scramble and despite horizontal rain and 60 mph winds Amy had 6 hardy soles turning up. Obviously bad weather doesn’t put them off !!! The decision was made to have a fun competition in our covered driving range which made a lot of sense and again the youngsters had brilliant fun. So much so that Archie refused to come back to the clubhouse until he had finished hitting out all his basket of balls.
Huge thanks again to Amy and the Centre

GOOD THINGS COMES IN THREE

Amy is Strathmore’s Solheim Cup Ambassador and a huge congratulations to her. Megan has been nominated in P&K Young Sports Personality of 2018 and yet another enquiry for Junior membership. With the amount of youngsters looking to join up and our Taster Sessions not even started we might need a bigger Clubhouse.

SUNDAYS JUST GET BETTER

Another brilliant Sunday Texas Scramble. Remembering we are still in January the weather has been amazing. 8 youngsters took to the course today. Megan and Euan with their new shoes. Blair with his new utility wood and 3 Titleist wedges courtesy of an upgrade on the hire scheme. Experiencing how much some of these players are progressing by playing more often and obviously practicing is very exciting and it would be better if we could get more out as this is definitely the way forward. The youngsters are watching, listening and learning as they go round and growing in confidence. Again great to see 3 girls out, Kirsten would have been there but was attending P&K Junior Coaching at Noah’s Ark. The winning team this week was Dawn, Blair, Archie and Euan with a level par 27 winning by 1 shot. Next week Jackie, Dawn and I are away so Amy has kindly offered to organise things.

ANOTHER GREAT SATURDAY

Eventful day. Fraser is fitted and delighted with his set of Callaway Hire Clubs and will pick up a trolley next week. Cost new probably in excess of £1000 not bad for £25 a year. Blair and Archie joined us for 9 holes on Leitfie and there was great excitement when Fraser playing with his new clubs had his first hole in one on the fifth, unfortunately it was a rabbit hole !!! Blair and I were joined by Dawn and Jackie for a Texas Scramble on Rannaleroch and playing the winter greens we shot a very impressive 5 under par 31. 5 birdies, an eagle and a stupid double bogey. Brilliant fun and looking forward to tomorrow’s Texas Scramble when hopefully a few more will turn up.

Weekly Texas Scramble - 13/01/019

10 Juniors took part in our 1st Leitfie Texas Scramble of 2019. 5 girls and 5 boys. Brilliant to see these kids so keen to get out and play. All the team captains were impressed with their players who all played their parts in some great scoring. Kirsten, Blair and Chloe must have thought they had done enough with an excellent score of 28 (1 over par) but Archie, Fraser and myself managed to get round in 26 to become the first winners of the new weekly Sunday Texas Scramble. Fraser has arranged to be fitted for a set of hire clubs and hopefully his sister Anna who joined in today will become our next new member. Amy was very impressed with her game. 3 other youngsters were out practicing and playing today which is tremendous at this time of year and a great omen for the season ahead.
