To be played on a home and away basis with aggregate scores deciding the 1^st round winners.

1^st Round:

Blairgowrie B v Murrayshall

King James V1 v Strathmore 

Blairgowrie A v Craigie Hill  

Pitlochry v Muckhart 

Milnathort v Crieff 

Auchterarder v Dunning 

1^st leg to be played by 17^th May.

2^nd leg to be played by 24^th May.

After the first round is complete an all in draw will take place to determine the 2^nd Round, also, the two “best” first round losers will be entered into the second round draw.

LATEST CHALLENGE MATCH FINISHES IN STYLE

Took to the fairways for round 4 against Alex, full greens except 1st and I got off to the best start and was 2 up after 2. Alex won 4, I won 7 and Alex won 9 to be 1 down at the turn. Was very impressed again with Alex distance off the tee especially 11 which he drove !! and won to go all square and 12 where he was pin high in 2. At 14 he took the lead for the first time and I knew I would have to pull something special out the bag. A birdie on 16 meant we were all square again and 2 3's on 17 took the match to the last and 2 shots left me 10 yds short of the green. My pitch hit the green and started rolling towards the pin and a couple of feet out I knew it was in and a birdie secured the win. 3,3,3 finish. Looking forward to next instalment.               

EVE MUIRHEAD WINS AN OLYMPIC MEDAL !!!!

Well done Eve and her team. When she was at Strathmore she told us what you had to do to achieve your dreams. After losing out in the semi final she and her team had to re group and pick themselves up and secured the bronze medal at Sochi today.


Tonight I want down to play Leitfie and would have managed 9 holes if the the 8th had not become the 17th at Sawgrass. Never seen so much water there before and no bridge to reach the green.    

1st SIGNS OF SPRING ?

This morning walking to work and the Geese are heading North - the nights are now stretching and soon be able to play 9 holes after work. Get the clubs ready and lets get off to a flying start to the season.

BRAD BANNERMAN BECOMES OUR LATEST WINNER

Brad Bannerman and his Uncle Billy today won the Gents winter 4 ball better ball, congratulations another junior section success.

JUST ANOTHER SATURDAY

Round 3 of the challenge with Alex resulted in a very close match and a half was a fair result.

Amy Mitchell has now become the 3rd junior to join the club hire scheme and after trying them out today is really excited to put them to the test at Gleneagles tomorrow. I would also like to thank her for donating her old set back into the scheme, a generous gesture and one that is appreciated and will maybe lead to another junior being recognised at County level.        

I CAN SEE INTO THE FUTURE !!!!!!

Last night I said expect the unexpected and within 24 hours I am proved right. A very excited Amy Mitchell called me to tell me she had been offered and accepted a Perth and Kinross scholarship at Gleneagles, what a start to her season.    

2014 Strathmore Scholarships

The following players have been selected to receive driving range Digi cards from 1st February 2014 to 31st January 2015. In recognition of being selected to the Scottish Golf Academy programme Kirsty Brodie (year 3) and Alex Simpson (year 1) will receive 3 cards per month.
Brad Bannerman, Tod Bannerman, Michael Brodie, Callum Ewan, Conor Hughes, Amy Mitchell and Marcus Ryan will receive 2 cards per month. Cards are obtained from the starters office.
This year we have decided not to give any individual lessons as a number of players already have their own coaches and of course Gareth will again be taking Strathmore's Junior Coaching programme where all juniors are invited to participate. 
Congratulations to all these players. I am very proud of their commitment to Strathmore and also the support the Centre gives them. Without both we would not have the success's we have achieved. I look forward to another great year and expect the unexpected.

Another great day on the course

Big greens (except 1 & 11) again Alex threw down the challenge and in a very close match which went to the last putt on the last green he gained revenge for last week with a superb birdie on 18. Think he enjoyed it and was very magnanimous. Roll on next week.
