Brilliant fun at the coaching today. Must have exchanged 10 sets of clubs for juniors who had outgrown their current hire ones. Another 3 new fittings done which takes us to a new record with 41 sets hired out for 2019 !!!! So many talented juniors improving so much. Megan went out with Jackie for her first Certificate and you couldn’t wipe the smile off her face when she achieved it with a 5 and 7. Archie paired up with Jackie, Charlie with Dawn and Katie with me. Scores were 30, 29 and 27 respectively. Conan, Blair and Cameron were out on the big course and Dionne was out with her dad for 9 holes.

Megan finished her round and is sitting just outside the top 20, terrific result with such a high class field competing.

Matthew also today became new member 18 for 2019 and will take our club hire scheme to a new record of 39 when he is fitted next week.

Jett and Sam become new members 16 and 17 for season 2019 and don't think we are finished yet.  

FIRST NIGHT OF COACHING

Brilliant to have a past Strathmore Junior now an assistant PGA Professional take the coaching tonight. Unfortunately it is due to Gareth’s continuing back problems but Rory fitted in well and the juniors enjoyed their sessions. A few were missing with illness and holidays but it was a busy 3 sessions. 8,5 and 11 attended. Was very impressed with all the youngsters tonight some really great prospects coming through. Kian had outgrown his clubs so they were replaced. Jett, Sam and Harriet were all fitted for Clubs and takes us up to 35 sets hired out and with 3 more to pay, we are back up to last years total and with another still to confirm which would take us to 39. Another record about to go. We have now had 66 children take advantage of the scheme which is amazing.

I am going to be busy taking players out for Certificates and handicaps so this season is going to get even busier. 3 new starter sets arrived today and I picked up another 3 sets to add to our stock. 

REPORT FROM SCOTTISH GOLF JUNIOR PANEL

Today went really well. We were talking about getting more people involved in golf and using the Solheim Cup as a selling point, we even got to hold the trophy! We also got to try curling which was harder than it looked.

JUST ANOTHER SATURDAY

Today Anna and Carly became New members 14 & 15 for 2019 and brings our Girls total up to 22.  Archie and Fraser have upgraded to the big course. Played a few holes on Leitfie with Megan before giving Conan a putting lesson. He was joined by Stuart and Fraser to play Summer League on Rannaleroch. Organised another Club fitting for Monday night, ordered 3 new sets of clubs to add to our stock and Jackie donated another 2 electric trollies to be hired out. After speaking to a major club manufacturers marketing department regarding them becoming Strathmore Juniors preferred supplier, they asked me to send them information over regarding our success with attracting both junior and now family members and also details of our club hire scheme and how it all fits in. Looks like we could have some more new members this week as well !! Coaching starts Monday with Past Junior Captain and Junior Champion and now Assistant PGA Professional taking 3 sessions.

FINAL DAY OF SCOTTISH GIRLS OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

Megan finished tied 31st and can take a lot of positives into the rest of the season. Well done

THURSDAY UPDATE

Megan improved her score by 2 shots and moved up 13 places to be tied 25th going into tomorrow’s final round. Must wish she could play the 1st and the 9th nine times - birdied them both days!!!!

Took Jett and Sam out tonight but we weren’t a match for Keegan and Isabella who along with Dawn won with a great score of 31. 

Conan took another 2 shots off his handicap today now 37. He has played 3 times this year losing 3, 1 and 2 shots !! And finally Louis has his first official Congu handicap of 39. What a great day !!! 

SCOTTISH GIRLS OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

Decent first round for Megan, 2 bad holes but plenty of positives to go into tomorrow’s 2nd round

Katy Alexander who started her golf at Strathmore is tied 3rd at 1 under par. Cormac Sharpe who also started with us is tied 61st at 3 over in the boys.

BUSY WEEKEND

Yesterday 8 youngsters attended our final Taster Session. We have been able to use the tips we picked up at our Level 1 PGA Coaching Course and the kids attending have loved trying out Golf. Kirsten helped us out yesterday and then took Louis out for his 2nd card for handicap, what an inspiration she is to others. Today 2 played in the Summer League and Blair played to his new handicap and Conan shot a nett 66 to reduce his handicap by 3 shots to 40.

Cara, Isla, Charlie and Owen were delighted to get fitted for their hire clubs tonight as you can see from their happy faces.

Big welcome to Charlie and Owen our latest new members. 5 sets to of Hire Clubs to fit tonight, 10 youngsters coming to tomorrow's Taster Session and a Fun Texas Scramble at 12 with the older one's out for 18 holes in the Summer League. Louis 2nd card for handicap . It's all happening !!! .     

TRUST UPDATE

After having his head wound stitched the first thing Trust did after being discharged was head to the nearest putting green. Looks like he has made it through the worst and is starting to rebuild his life.
