STARTING TO THINK I CAN SEE INTO THE FUTURE

I made this prediction on the blog on the 5th of  December and expected the season to start before it came true but our juniors have come up trumps once again !!!

"Our Juniors keep on raising the bar and I see no reason why with all this additional coaching etc that next year and for years to come Strathmore will eclipse anything achieved by any Junior Section not only in P&K but in Scotland.

This unbelievable news caps the most amazing season and I feel privileged that our players have achieved so much but I know with the talent we have at the club this is only the start and there is more to come. 2013 can't come quick enough and with Strathmore now being a Scottish Development Centre anything is possible !!!!! mark my words".

After Alexei Butchart's superb results in his first 3 scratch competitions (2 x 1st places and a 3rd) the Russian Golf Association have selected him as a member of the Russian Under 14 National Junior Golf Team, geared towards the Youth Olympics and beyond . At 10 year old he is one of the youngest to be picked. Coaching starts in Moscow in February with a training camp in Spain in April. Team compititions have been arranged in Finland, Hungary and Latvia.

Dad Graeme said "to celebrate the good news Alexei took some practice swings on Red Square this evening - as you can see from the hat he has not forgotten his loyalties to his favourite golf centre !!"

If selected he will become Strathmore's 1st Internationalist.

2013 FIXTURE LIST

I have published the 2013 fixture list on the right under Pages - Home. Get your diaries or calenders out and make sure you have all the dates noted.
I want this to be our best year ever with everybody playing as often as possible. Get practising so that when the season starts we can see the handicaps tumble down !!!! Start by setting yourself a target of what you would like to achieve this year and remember if you fail to plan you plan to fail. Identify your strengths and weaknesses and work on the improvement areas. Make your targets realistic and achievable and if you need help or advice let me know.

FANTASIC RESPONSE - STRATHMORE JUNIORS ARE THE BEST

Again another 6 arrived early and were keen to go !! We held a quick putting comp on the 9th green on Leitfie with Josh "the putting machine" winning round 1 only to be pipped Amy in round 2 with an amazing single putt. Calum, Josh and myself playing matchplay Texas Scramble won 3&2 against Amy, Luke, Mark and Michael. On the 9th tee we held a special one off nearest the pin competition. I went first and hit the top of the green only to have Josh hit it inside me into the front pin position to win himself a new golf bag. Well done to you all, especially Josh with his brilliant shot into 9.

We will continue next week but some of our players will be attending week one coaching at the Scottish Academy and we wish them all the best.

PS I managed to win my singles match this afternoon 2 up getting up and down 8 times, chipping and putting is where you keep your scores down and win matches, keep practising your short games !

RESPECT FROM PAST JUNIOR MEMBERS

Great to see past Juniors Matthew Bell, Allan Easton and Rory Tinker all playing this weekend. Strathmore have always encouraged our Junior Section and it is testament to the support given that they are still members and if you include Mark Scott who lives in Glasgow and travels up most weekends during the season it is an investment that pays long term dividends.

As Junior Convenor I am delighted they have remained members and the relationships we have built up over the years has made them life long friends.

TREMENDOUS RESPONSE AND A HUGE THANK YOU

Thank you all Juniors who played today and also the the parents who emailed/texted apologies. I was very impressed by the response my emails have achieved and look forward to 2013 being the best year yet for Strathmore Juniors. Calum enticed Mark out of hibernation and he was the star of the boys team accompanied by Michael and Josh - the putting machine. Amy, Louise and myself managed to edge ahead and secured victory on the 7th with a birdie 2.

All of us had great fun and I see so much potential in these youngsters and it was great to have so many complements made by fellow members who witnessed so many Juniors on the Course enjoying themselves.

Smiley faces all round !!!!!!!!
