CONGRATUALTIONS MATTHEW AND KIRSTY

Matthew Sime and Kirsty Brodie both played their second round at the Wee Wonders yesterday and Kirsty returned a fantastic 37, 3 shots less than the previous day. This score bought Kirsty into 3rd overall position in her section. Matthew returned a 49 and finsihed 9th in his section.

But the most fantastic news is that Matthew, due to his age and section, has been selected to be in the GB&I team which takes in America in 2009. This Wee Wonders tournament will take place at Pinehurst, North Carolina next July. What fantastic fantastic news for Matthew and although just a wee boy is a huge star at Strathmore.

Well done Matthew from us all, we are very proud of you!

I will post photo's tomorrow!

GOOD LUCK SCRATCH LEAGUE TEAM

Our brilliant Scratch League Team are out in force again tomorrow! They take on the top of the league team, Milnathort at home. The team will consist of Allan Easton, Matthew Bell, Megan Aird, Grant Martin and Rory Tinker.

Good Luck to you all!
WEE WONDERS

Our wee wonders did great today! Kirsty Brodie was first to tee off and with quite a grandstand of spectators teed off in perfect style. Kirstie continued in this vain all the way round and returned a fantastic score of 40 and at the half way mark in 3rd equal in her age group.

Matthew also showed no sign of nerves and even managed a wee wave to his supporters as he strode down the 1st, a par 4 and even knocked a 15ft putt in to par the hole! He finished his round with a fantastic 46. He at present is 9th in his age group (please remember he is the youngest there!)

So all to play for tomorrow. Matthew tees off first at 11.32 followed by Kirstie at 12. Iain and I are unable to go to support them tomorrow but have been promised an update by Jackie who is making her way along tomorrow to wave the Strathmore Flag!!

I will post the photos as soon as possible!

GOOD LUCK

Good luck to our two wee wonders Matthew Sime and Kirsty Brodie who are taking part in the finals this weekend of The Wee Wonders at St. Andrews. They will play 9 holes today and 9 holes tomorrow.

Jackie, Iain and myself are making our way over today to support our wee stars and will let you know how they get on!

GO EMILY AND ALLAN!!

Emily Aird and Allan Easton have taken part in Scotland’s biggest junior handicap event, the Dunfermline Building Society Junior Masters. With hundreds of boys and girls from clubs across the country playing for a place in the grand final at Gleneagles, home of the 2014 Ryder Cup.

Five regional finals are taking part during the summer holidays from Duff House Royal in the north to Galashiels in the Borders. Allan Played in the regional final at Dunblane on July 15th and Emily played in the regional final at Ratho Park yesterday and after stiff competition have both played their way into the final in October.

This is a fantastic achievement for Emily and Allan and for Strathmore Junior Section. We wish them every success on October 12th!

Well done both!

OUR SCRATCH LEAGUE TEAM ARE ACE!
Our brilliant Scratch League Team did us all proud again last night when we faced Murrayshall Team at home. The team produced some fantastic golf and won the match 3-2. Special mention must go to Rory Tinker who not only notched his first win but did it in brilliant style with a hat trick of birdies on 15, 16 & 17 to win his match 3&1.
The team, as always, did Strathmore and themselves proud both on and off the course and are great fun to be around.
Well done to you all!
WHAT A CHALLENGE!

Young Matthew Sime and Elite Junior Convener were all set to play a challenge match over the 1st and 9th hole of Leitfie on Sunday. The challenge match had a slight twist in that Iain had to use Matthews clubs!!

After a toss of the coin and grand announcements onto the Tee by David Norman, Matthew hits his Tee shot straight down the fairway closely followed by Iain's shot left of the green. Both chipped onto the green but just missed their putts. As they were setting off to the final hole in this largely spectated match the heavens opened and both players and the crowds were soaked to the skin!!! The match was obviously abandoned.

However next Saturday will see this match resume at 11.30. So if you would like to come along support Matthew and Iain in this fantastic event please come along at 11.25.

Enjoy the photos!
