Glenalmond College Midsummer Junior Golf Team Competition
The 3rd year of this event is taking place on Wednesday 23rd of June. The first winners were Auchterarder in 2008 and last year Strathmore represented by Brad Bannerman, Michael Brodie, John and Josh McKenna won the event and put Strathmore Golf Club's name on the Trophy. The rules of the competition are that the 4 players must be under 13 on 01/01/2010. As John, Josh and Michael have all now turned 13 in 2009 (Michael on the 26th December) they cannot defend the trophy.
This year will see a very strong team consisting of Brad Bannerman, Alex Simpson, Kirsty Brodie and Callum Ewan taking part. The winners will be the team with the lowest aggregate scratch score for 3 of the team members (if a tie the 4th score counts)
We wish our 4 players the best of luck and as Strathmore are the defending Champions we are the team to beat.

Junior Bell Trophy
Today saw the home leg against Muthill result in a well deserved 4:1 lead to take away to the 2nd leg in 3 weeks time. Alex Simpson making his debut for Strathmore and giving 6 shots won 5&4. John McKenna giving 8 shots won 3&2. Brad Bannerman giving 12 shots won 3&2. Michael Brodie giving 8 shots won 2 up and Josh McKenna giving 4 shots lost 6&4. A magnificent result for Strathmore who after the last few weeks of handicap cuts showed that their current form is still improving and with the practise and commitment from each player we know a result at Muthill will qualify the team into the knock out stages. Congratulations to all the players especially Josh who despite suffering from a severe nose bleed on the 7th tee managed to play on and complete his match.
Junior Summer League
Kirsty Brodie again reduced her handicap by returning a nett 68 winning from Frankie Henvey nett 74. Kirsty has now knocked 5 shots off in as many weeks , well done.
Megan Ashley playing in the Leitfie Summer League has reduced her fun handicap by 10 from 54 to 44. Great scoring Megan.

Rory Dyce becomes latest member of Strathmore Juniors 70s Club
On Wednesday night Rory, who recently turned 15, become the latest of our Junior members to break 80 with a superb 78 (nett 63)(38 out 40 in). Rory who's home club is Kirriemuir joined Strathmore last year and is a very welcome addition to our Section. With our 1st Scratch League match less than a month away we have a number of players now in contention for selection. Wednesday competition was in Stableford format so did not show the gross scores returned only the points accumulated so I was unaware of his gross score so I apologise to Rory for not posting this earlier and wish him all the best for the rest of the season.

CLUB GOLF JUNIOR MASTERS

Tonight was the qualifying round of the Club Golf Junior Masters. The regional qualifier will be held at Forfar on Tuesday 20th July. Two boys and two girls aged under 16 will go through to these regional play off's.

We are delighted to announce the qualifying players from Strathmore are

Boys:
John McKenna
Michael Brodie

Girls:
Hannah Robb
Kirsty Brodie

Although Kirsty did not play this evening Emily Aird had already qualified to represent Blairgowrie therefore there was one girls place available and the rules of competition state that clubs can nominate the most improved player or a player who is displaying the most potential. Kirsty fits both criteria therefore she will join Hannah at Forfar.

"THE EAGLE HAS LANDED"  .

Tonight saw a field of 10 take part in the second round of the Junior Club Championship in awful wet and cold conditions. Despite this we saw some great play and tremendous scores. John McKenna shot an 82 nett 68 winning with a better last 6 off his new playing handicap of 15 and in doing so reduced his handicap to 14. On the 16th hole John recorded his 1st eagle when he holed his 2nd shot. Michael Brodie shot 81 also nett 68 again reducing his handicap from 13 to 12.
