Tonight saw the semi finals of the Scratch and Handicap Championship. First off were Junior Captain Rory Tinker and Michael Brodie, Rory played outstanding golf and won 5&3, next semi final was title holder Allan Easton who lost to the Hannah Robb on the 19th. So our finalists this year for the Scratch Championship will be Rory and Hannah meaning a new name will be added to the Junior Champions board.
In the handicap section Vice Captain Frankie Moran (23) beat last years Handicap Champion John McKenna (13) 6&5. The final match was a nail bitter indeed Josh McKenna (12) and Kirsty Brodie (25) treated us to a 19th hole decider where Josh birdied the hole to win his place in the final.
Please note the Scratch Final will be played on Saturday at 2pm followed by the Handicap final at 2.15pm. Looking forward to a great day!
Below is some photos of the evening.

PHENOMENAL
Strathmore Junior Josh McKenna (aged 14) playing off a handicap of 12, tonight took 18 year old Scottish Internationalist Ross Storrier, playing off a handicap of scratch (previously +1) to the 19th hole in the quarter final of the Downfield Junior Scratch Club Championship.
What an achievement for Josh who was disappointed not to have won but can take so many positives from tonights match. Josh who recently made his winning debut in the P&K Scratch League winning 6&4 against a 5 handicapper has taken that experience to a new level and will no doubt help him achieve his golfing goals.
Summer league update
3 more handicap cuts
Megan Ashley 40 to 38
Matthew Sime 15 to 12
Matthew Wiggins 54 to 52
5.5 strokes seperates Matthew from Megan who have already started to discard their worse scores. With school holidays looming its now the time for everyone else to get their cards in.

STRATHMORE CHAMPIONS AGAIN
Tonight our team of Brad Bannerman, Kirsty Brodie, Callum Ewan and Alex Simpson retained the Glenalmond trophy we won last year. The format is a 9 hole scratch event where the best 3 scores count. Tonight's competition ended in a tie and then the 4th players scores are included and Strathmore won by 1 stroke from Auchterarder (Champions 2008.)
What a superb result and well done to all 4 players.
Strathmore have only entered this competition twice and have 100% record. This proves what can be achieved with the enthusiasm and encouragement shown within the Junior Section. As Junior Convenor I am delighted for every player who took part and know this will give them each a huge boost and inspire them to another level.

I will update the Junior Summer League when the results have been run off.

CONGRATULATIONS RORY
Junior Captain Rory Tinker has played his way through to the Semi-Final stages of the Gents Club Championship. Rory played Scott Thomson tonight and it was an extremely tight match which went all the way to the 18th where Rory won 1up. Well done Rory and good luck on Friday in the Semi Final.
Unfortunately fellow junior member Allan Easton will not be joining Rory on Friday. Allan also had a very close match which went all the way to the 19th hole and Allan lost the hole.
Both juniors conducted themselves in exemplary fashion throught their matches and are a credit to the junior section. Well done to both.

Scratch League Team get off to a winning start
Tonight saw Strathmore playing against a very strong Muckhart side at Strathmore. Allan Easton playing Gary Chalmers(1) won 2&1. Rory Tinker playing Greg Dunsmore(3) won 2 up. Hannah Robb playing Calum Hill(4)lost 3&1. Josh McKenna making his debut playing against Douglas Barret(5) won 6&4, a tremendous result with Josh only 3 over par after 14 holes. Michael Brodie playing Ian Hood(6) lost 5&3. A superb result all round and a great start to the campaign. When you consider all our players were playing opponents who were older and with considerably lower handicaps to win the match 3-2 was remarkable and a credit to the whole Junior Section.
As Junior Convenor it makes me very proud to be associated with such a great group of youngsters. Well done.

Summer League Update
13 players have now entered cards for the Summer League. Players sign the "Blue Book" in the Office before playing and can only submit one 9 hole card per day with a maximum of 2 cards per week (Sunday to Saturday.) A responsible adult or fellow competitor can mark the card which has to be signed by both marker and player, dated and Summer League entered as Competition.
The winner will be the player with the lowest 10 cards submitted. Megan Ashley 9 cards, Matthew Sime 7 cards and Alex Simpson along with Finn Morrison have completed 5 cards each.
In the process fun Leitfie handicaps have tumbled down
Megan Ashley 54 to 40 - 14 shots
Tod Bannerman 38 to 32 - 6 shots
Benjamin Fischer 50 to 45 - 5 shots
Lewis MacLeod 46 to 44 - 2 shots
Finn Morrison 52 to 51 - 1 shot
Matthew Sime 17 to 16 - 1 shot
With the School holidays fast approaching I expect the number of rounds played and the number of competitors to increase and more handicaps to reduce.

Today saw Strathmore Juniors progress to the quarter finals of the Junior Bell Trophy with a 2.5 v 2.5 draw away at Muthill.

Josh McKenna lost 5&3
Michael Brodie won 1 up
John McKenna lost 1 down
Brad Bannerman won 8&7
Alex Simpson all square
All five have played their part in this excellent result against one of last years semi finalists. The team spirit shown was incredible and I am proud of the way our players conducted themselves both on and off the course. Also a big thanks again to the Centre for their sponsorship of the Strathmore team shirts which make the players look and play like a team.
Inter Divisional Team Championship
Hannah Robb representing Northern Division helped them finish 2nd (lost on holes won after 2 wins each) from West who won the title for the first time. Hannah was partnered by Eilidh Watson (Muckhart) and were undefeated in their 3 matches.
3rd Round Club Championship Qualifier
Josh McKenna 82 nett 70
Michael Brodie 84 nett 72
Rory Tinker 81 nett 75 (best gross)
Leitfie Medal Tuesday 8th June
Only disappointment this weekend was that as no names had been entered by this morning we decided to cancel the competition. Later today 4 players informed me they wished to play but had forgotten to put their names up. We have reinstated the competition on this occasion but will in future cancel all competitions where no one has signed up. Would all parents/guardians please make sure that players are aware of when competitions are taking place and that their names are entered.
