Allan Easton selected to represent Perth and Kinross County Gents

Sunday 27th of March saw Allan Easton create history for Strathmore Golf Club. By being selected to represent P&K County Gents team in the Provan Salver against Clackmannan , Allan became the first Strathmore member to represent P&K Gents in an individual match play event . Team Captain Ralph Taylor was full of praise at Allan's ball stricking ability which resulted in a convincing 5&4 victory which helped P&K halve their match 4-4 . I would like to thank the Centre for their continuing investment in Junior Coaching and the Scholarships which has assisted Allan in his progress to County level .

CONGRATULATIONS CORY

Yesterday was the Gents Leitfie Links Championship and Junior Member Cory Miller won the handicap section by an amazing 5 shots. Cory whose playing partners were Gary McLuskie who won the Scratch Section of the championship and Junior Convenor Iain Butchart. Iain stated that he was very impressed with Cory's play and was certain his handicap would come tumbling down over the season.

Well done Cory!

CAPTAIN V VICE CAPTAIN

Unfortunately we have taken the decision to postpone next Sunday's Captain v Vice-Captains competition. We will post a new date as soon as possible.

SCOTTISH CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYERS

Four junior members from Strathmore will be taking part in the Scottish Championships next month. Three players will represent Strathmore they are Allan Easton and Rory Tinker who are entrants in the Scottish Boys Championships at Dunbar commencing 11th April at Dunbar. This is a knockout competition and Allan will be teeing off at 07.01 against Andrew Cunningham (Runfurly Castle) and Rory tees off at 13.05 against Stuart Cameron (Renfrew). The third representative is Kirsty Brodie who is playing her first ever Scottish Event, the SLGA Under 16 Open Stroke Play Championship which is being hosted by Strathmore. Kirsty tees off at 13.30. Fellow member Emily Aird, who represents Blairgowrie, will tee off at 09.00.

Great to see these players competing at this level and we wish all players the very best of luck. We will be watching with great interest.

 

Junior Captain's Drive-In

Calling all Juniors , Sunday 27th March sees the opening of the 2011 season. Come and be part of this event which sees Frankie Moran's Captain's team take on Michael Brodie's Vice Captain's team. This is a fun event for all juniors with or without handicaps. The entry sheet is on the notice board so please sign up. Food will be provided after the match so we need to know numbers to cater for.

JUNIOR BELL TROPHY & JUNIOR SCRATCH LEAGUE DRAWS

1st round of the Junior Bell Trophy have paired us with Pitlochry, the 1st leg is at home and to be played by 15th May with the 2nd leg to be played away by the 5th June.

Junior Scratch League sees us playing our 1st match away to Milnathort on 12th June, followed by a home tie versus Blairgowrie on July 3rd, we then play hosts to Pitlochry on 7th August with our final match away at King James VI. This draw gives us a real chance to progress to the semi final stage for the first time.
