CERTIFICATES AWARDED

Two of our newest members Owen and Ethan Foster have done extremely well by completing level One and Two in one night! Fantastic achievement! Owen and Ethan only joined at the end of July!

Well done boys, keep it up and remember to watch the notice board for the next Texas Scramble which will be coming up soon...no handicap required!!

Thought you would like to see this picture of our Junior Section H/Cap Secretary Dawn Butchart meeting First Minister Alex Salmon at Gleneagles on Sunday. Dawn is a Board member of SLGA and also a Board member of Clubgolf which is the junior section of Scottish Golf. Alex Salmon was attending the Clubgolf stand to announce the governments commitment to Junior Golf by their promise of funding until 2018. Alex Salmon is a great stalwart of Junior golf in Scotland and is keen to promote the cause when he can.

Also in the picture is Jackie Davidson who is the Clubgolf manager and James Bryne who was the leading amatuer at the Johnnie Walker tournament which was taking place at Gleneagles at the weekend.

Can you spot me in the picture?? Wee clue...look under the camera man's microphone holder's arm!!

RETURN TO ORIGINAL DATE

We have been contacted by the Junior Scratch League organisers to be advised that the original date of September 11th has been reinstated as the date for our semi final against Kinross. The venue has yet to be confirmed.

JUNIOR SCRATCH LEAGUE SEMI FINALS DATE CHANGE

The Executive Committee of Perth & Kinross have rearranged the semi finals date to either Saturday the 17th or Sunday the 18th at a neutral venue (still to be confirmed). This decision was taken as Clackmannan had arranged the Gary Harvey Trophy on the weekend of the 1oth and 11th September and a number of players would not have been available to play in the semi finals.

THE 1ST GEESE HAVE ARRIVED

Tonight I couldn't believe on the 17th green that I heard the 1st of the winter Geese as they flew overhead. I did see a combine working in a field from the 4th green last Sunday so Autumn has definately arrived.

STRATHMORE TOP SECTION AND QUALIFY AS TOP SEEDS FOR SEMI FINALS OF SCRATCH LEAGUE

Brilliant result tonight for our young stars. Playing Pitlochry at Strathmore tonight we had a tremendous 5&0 win. Allan Easton was 5 under (2 eagles and a birdie) winning 7&5 , Rory Tinker won 2&1 closing his match out on 17 with a tee shot to within 2 foot , Ross Dallas secured an excellent 5&4 victory before Michael Brodie produced an amazing 8&7 win (level par to 11 - 2 under through 7) Hannah Robb had a walk over.

We now look forward to the semi finals where we will meet the runners up of the Red Group on the 11th September at a neutral venue.

I am so proud of our teams performances this season.

As we have five category 1 and four category 2 players in our squad we have one of the strongest teams in the County a great testament to Strathmore .

Playing at Blair Atholl Emily had her 2nd hole in one on the same hole (6th) as her 1st one. Last time she holed a 3 wood this time it was a 5 wood (obviously hitting in longer)

Well done Emily , many people play all their lives and never have a hole in one but 2 in the same season on the same hole is an amazing achievement .

STRATHMORE JUNIORS JUST KEEPING ON IMPROVING

Where do I start ? Emily Aird has her 1st sub par round at Rosemount, one under 73 , great achievement and the first of many. Rory Dyce shot 2 over at Kirriemuir to reduce his handicap to single figures and follows Brad Bannerman who is now also single figures. ONE SHOT AWAY FROM PULLING OF THE RESULT OF THE SEASON

Strathmore Juniors represented by Rory Tinker , Michael Brodie and Brad Bannerman nearly pulled off a spectacular win at Rosemount yesterday . Playing in the P&K Junior 3 man team event Rory shot a gross 70 Michael 76 and Brad 76 and were pipped by home team Blairgowie who shot 70,75 and 76 . Remembering this was a Scratch competition our players with handicaps of 4,6 and 10 were only beaten by one shot by players with handicaps of 0,1 and 4.

I am delighted for our 3 boys who have each reduced their handicaps by one shot . Furthermore for Michael and Brad playing at this level aged 14 and 13 shows what potential we have at Strathmore .

This Sunday we play hosts to Pitlochry in the Junior Scratch League and a victory would mean we finish first in our section and secure a place in the semi finals .

Our juniors keep on improving and competing at the highest levels and I am so pleased for each of them as I know how much time and effort they all put in and its great to see them grow in confidence and this year I feel we have a team who can go all the way and prove to everyone that we are winners . Yesterdays result was a huge boost for Strathmore and will be noticed throughout the County.

ST ANDREWS JUNIOR OPEN

4 of our players took part today with Hannah Robb finishing one place ahead of fellow member Emily Aird and just missing out of the knock out stages

Ladies

Hannah Robb 77
Emily Aird 77
Kirsty Brodie 85

Boys

Rory Tinker 81

All 4 will now compete in tomorrows Stableford competition. Good luck to you all.
