Tomorrow sees Michael and Brad tee it up in the Scottish Boys match play Championship at Monifieth. Both boys have been practicing hard during the winter and that should help them in their 1st round matches.

NO CHALLENGERS TONIGHT ???
Disappointed - nobody took up the challenge. Course was good, pitch mark repairer was required on the greens, although they could now do with a trim and a rabbit poo decluter.

PROBABLY THE FINAL LEITFIE CHALLENGE TOOK PLACE TONIGHT - WEATHER NOT PERMITTING
Hopefully with the weather improving we will soon be back on the full course - main greens and tees.
Tonight saw Brad, Tod and myself taking part in the latest instalment of the Leitfie Challenge. We decided to play the points game and in a close run contest Brad scored 17, Tod 18 and yours truly 19.
If the weather doesn't improve who wants to take the Leitfie Challenge next ?
Still looking for entries for the Russell Bailey on Sunday - tee times re-arranged for 3pm.

EVE MUIRHEAD BECOMES LADIES WORLD CURLING CHAMPION
I was delighted to watch Eve winning her 1st Ladies World Championship final today.
When she visited us earlier this year she told us how hard she trained and practiced and how much she was committed to securing her personal goals. I hope Eve will be able to come along and show us her Gold medal and to inspire us to reach our personal goals.
Well done Eve - WORLD CHAMPION !!!!!!

1ST JUNIOR COMPETITION TAKES PLACE ON SUNDAY
The Russell Bailey Shield takes place ON Sunday 31st March on Rannaleroch (the big course) at 3pm. This competition is open to all juniors with either a Congu club or full handicap (fun handicaps on Leitfie cannot be used) You need to find an adult Strathmore member to be your partner as the Russell Bailey is a foursomes competition. Both handicaps are combined then divided by 2(ladies/girls receive 1 extra ss stroke before dividing) Gents and boys will play from white tees and ladies and girls from red tees. Adults tee off on odd numbered holes and juniors on even numbered holes. Callum and Keith and Kirsty and Ron have already entered so come on the rest of you, find a partner and get entered.
If you need a partner but can't find one give me a call and I will arrange one.
The following Saturday 6th April sees the Summer League tee off so get your names up for that as well. I want to see the progress you have all made over the winter and to see who is first to reduce their handicap ?

OUR BEST WISHES TO EVE MUIRHEAD PAID OFF AS SHE MAKES THE FINAL
Playing in the Ladies World Curling Championship semi final tonight in Riga (Latvia) Eve and her team made it to tomorrows final where they will take on Sweden. Eve went into the last end all square but Canada were favourites as they had the last stone but a superb last play by Eve left Canada with a difficult shot which they failed to make and with a steal Eve secured her place in tomorrows final were she is hoping to become Ladies World Champion.
I have sent Eve our best wishes and if you want to see how she gets on watch Eurosport tomorrow at 9pm.

IF YOUR GOOD ENOUGH YOUR OLD ENOUGH
TWELVE YEAR OLD CHINESE BOY QUALIFIES FOR VOLVO CHINA OPEN
FROM THE DAILY TELEGRAPH WEBSITE
Twelve-year-old Ye Wocheng became the youngest golfer to qualify for a European Tour event when the Chinese schoolboy survived a late wobble to grab a place at the Volvo China Open today.
Ye's two round two-under-par total of 142 at the Western China qualifier earned him a spot at the May 2-5 European and OneAsia Tour event and his participation will see him better the mark of his compatriot Guan Tianlang, who competed last year as a 13-year-old.

The amateur, who lives in the industrial city of Donggaun in Guangdong province and is a member of the local Hillview Golf Club, had his father caddying for him as he belied his age and lack of experience to claim one of the three places on offer.
After shooting an opening four-under 68 on Tuesday, Ye raced to the turn in his second round, leading the field on seven-under after four birdies today, but the pressure began to tell on a tumultuous back nine.
Shots were dropped at the 11th and 14th before he appeared to settle down with a birdie 2 at the 15th only to rack up a horror 8 at the par five 16th.
His opening 27 holes had, however, provided an ample cushion and he could even afford to drop another shot on the last hole and claim the third and final place with two shots to spare.
Eighteen-year-old Li Xinyang and Jin Da Xing finished joint first on five-under 139 at the Wolong Valley Country Club with no other player finishing under par.
The 19th edition of the Volvo China Open will take place at the Tianjin Binhai Lake Golf Club in north-east China.

ROUND 2 OF LEITFIE CHALLENGE
Fair play to Kirsty (who celebrated her 13th Birthday today) she was out for revenge and Michael joined us so we decided to play the points game. 6 points available on every hole (explanation below)
Great fun, Michael didn't have his best day so Kirsty and I fought out for the honours, a 5ft on the 6th and a 10ft birdie putt on 7th helped me to a 27/20/7 win. Can't wait for next instalment on Monday (all welcome 5 pm)
Player A - 1st = 4 pts 1st = 4 pts 1st = 3pts 1st = 2pts
Player B - 2nd = 2pts 2nd = 1pt 1st = 3pts 1st = 2pts
Player C - 3rd = 0pts 2nd = 1pt 1st = 2pts

WELL DONE KIRSTY - 1ST UP TO THE CHALLENGE
Had a brilliant time tonight, Kirsty took up the challenge and we had a really close match which I managed to sneak 2&1. I was really impressed with Kirsty's ball striking and her chipping was also very good and only the pace of the greens caught her out. She is now seeking revenge and round 2 is tomorrow night. Kirsty has a busy coaching weekend ahead - Scottish Academy at St Andrews all day Saturday and P&K at Gleneagles on Sunday and this is paying off as her flop shot on the 9th demonstrated.

NOW I'M MORE DESPERATE FOR THE SEASON TO START
As the nights are stretching I went down for 9 holes tonight on Leitfie, first game for nearly 3 weeks. Shot 30 (only 1 over) 8 pars + 1 bogey. It only took 50 minutes and the sun was shining the greens holding and the course to myself. I am going to start playing every night after work (5pm finish) so if anybody fancies a game let me know. Look forward to seeing who's up to the challenge ???

SCRATCH LEAGUE AND JUNIOR BELL DRAWS ANNOUNCED
We can now start planning our 2013 campaign.
Scratch League draw
Sunday June 2nd - home to Muckhart
Saturday June 29th - away to Pitlochry
Sunday July 14th - away to Crieff
Junior Bell draw
Strathmore v Kinross
1st leg home - by Saturday 18th May
2nd leg away - by Saturday 25th May
Dates for the Bell Trophy are still to be confirmed as we are required as per the rules to offer 3 dates.
Our recent record against our opponents are very encouraging. In the Scratch League last year we defeated Muckhart 4-1 home and Crieff 4-1 away so repeats would be great. 2011 was the last time we played Pitlochry the result was a 5-0 home victory and hopefully we can go to there and repeat that amazing win. I believe we have a squad strong enough to retain the Scratch League Trophy and the competition for places in the team will be interesting during the season. The Junior Bell Trophy pairs us up again with last years 1st round opponents Kinross, at home we won 4-1 and followed that with a 3-2 away victory to seal a superb 7-3 aggregate score. Lets see if we can go one better in the Junior Bell this year by not only reaching the final but by using last years experience to do the double. I look forward to the matches and all the excitement that goes with them, other teams will not be looking forward to being up against the best Juniors in the County.

EVE MUIRHEAD ON POINTLESS
For all of you who came along to the evening with Eve Muirhead last year I hope you saw her on Pointless last night! The question was what sport these Captains played in. Ofcourse it was curling and the Scottish couple who were on guessed her and the other couple picked Jose Maria Olazabal and only three more people knew he was the Captain of The Ryder Cup Team!! 18 people knew Eve was an olympian Curling Captain and 21 knew Olly
She really is a star!!
