CARNOUSTIE GIRL CHALLENGE

Kirsty Brodie and Amy Mitchell got their seasons underway. After day one which was cut short due to high winds Amy was lying in 6th place in a very strong field and will take a lot of confidence into her season knowing she can compete with the best. Kirsty had a disappointing first day but fought back today and can take positives from her round and can now concentrate on playing in the SLGA under 16 Championship.

Parade of prizewinners (l to r): Hazel MacGarvie, Katie Malcolm , Chloe Goadby, Brogan Clark and Shannon McWilliam

Chloe Goadby wins by one shot from Hazel

MacGarvie at Carnoustie Girls' Challenge

St AndrewsChloe Goadb(St Regulus) won the SLGA's Carnoustie Girls Challenge tournament at the weekend by the narrowest of margins.
Bad weather forced a suspension of play for more than an hour on Saturday and the first round, at Burnside, was reduced to 14 holes because the later starters did not have enough light to complete their rounds.
A full round was possible today (Sunday) at Buddon and so the tournament, instead of being the scheduled 36 holes, was decided over 32 holes.
Chloe Goadby's score of 57 for the 14 holes on Saturday proved crucial in the final analysis. That gave her a one-shot lead over Hazel MacGarvie (Troon Ladies) and that was how they finished.
Chloe had a total of 127 (57-70), a single stroke ahead runner-up Hazel  58-70 with SLGA champion of champions Shannon McWilliam from Aboyne third on 130 (62-68).

CONVENOR GETS THAT WINNING FEELING

Brilliant fun today. Playing Texas scrambles builds Team spirit, helps concentration whilst also is great fun. Today's format was each player had to use 4 tee shots which was to include a tee shot at each of the 4 par 3's only leaving 2 spares. Interesting to say the least. Think we might try this out.
