NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS

Coaching finished for the summer holidays and everyone promised they would be out there practicing. On Saturday joined up with Amy and we took James Bonar out for his 1st card for handicap. Kirsty was away to Murcar representing P&K ladies at the jamboree and although P&K suffered 3 defeats Kirsty who played in 2 of the morning foursomes did herself proud and with her partner halved both their matches, speaking to her tonight she loved the experience and I think she will be part of the team for years to come. Alex had a busy weekend with a practice at Arbroath before playing for Scotland against France in a drawn match at St Andews. Then today he finished level par in the Scottish Boys under 16's tied 17th but only 1 shot off top 10. Great start and roll on tomorrow. While I was down at the club tonight saw Molly spending time on the putting green before going out on Leitfie for a few holes, so pleased she has taken my advice as practicing is the only way to improve your game !!!
James Lothian was also presented with his 2nd certificate.

BELL TROPHY DISAPPOINTMENT

Could only field 4 players tonight in our quarter final against Craigie Hill and despite Marcus and Conor both winning 4&3 Tod and Amy lost their matches and with us having already conceded the 5th match we lost out 3&2. Good luck to our opponents in the semi final.

BEST WISHES FROM THE CENTRE

Hi Iain
Please pass on our best wishes to Kirsty and Alex for their respective competitions.

LADIES CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

Congratulations to Kirsty Brodie and Megan Ashley who won their quarter final matches and will now face each other in the semi final. Great match in prospect and a junior will make the final.

LADIES COUNTY JAMBOREE

Good luck to Kirsty Brodie who plays in her first Jamboree. Report below from P&KLCGA

Our P&K County Team, Captain and officials will be making their way North to Murcar Links Golf Club ahead of the Inter County Team Championship which commences tomorrow through to Monday 29th.

The team representing P&K are

Kirsty Brodie (Strathmore)
Laura Campbell (Pitlochry)
Steph Crolla (Muckhart)
Shonagh Raitt (Crieff)
Nicola Robertson (Stirling)
Jen Saxton (Muckhart)
Laura Walker (Muckhart)
Eilidh Watson (Muckhart)
The format for the Championship is a round robin with Foursomes in the morning then 6 singles in the afternoon. We will play Angus on Saturday, Aberdeenshire on Sunday and Northern Counties on Monday

FUTURE IS LOOKING EVEN BRIGHTER

Marcus Ryan asked me to play 18 holes last night and give him some tips. Was really impressed - driving - very long, distance putting - very precise, short putting - incredible. Only tips - keep head down over all shots and play the simple shots round the green. Don't think it will be long before before he is single figures.
Alex Simpson and I played our Gents foursomes tonight and gelled well being level par after 15 and winning 5&3. Alex represents Scotland this weekend against France and plays a practice round at Arbroath before next weeks under 16's and I believe not only does he have the game but he also has the confidence to make an impression.

P&K LADIES LADIES COUNTY MEETING AT GLENISLA

Congratulations to Megan Ashley who not only topped the handicap section but did the double by winning the scratch with a great round of 80 - only one shot outside the 70's club. In doing so she also took another stroke off her handicap which has now reduced to 10.8. Well done Megan - single figures soon !!!! To cap it off she had also been awarded a P&K Scholarship at Gleneagles for the second time. Well deserved I would say.

SCRATCH LEAGUE

Confirmation that we have won the Red League and will play the runners up in the Blue League. With Brad, Alex and Kirsty available we have the best team in the County and I can't wait to see them confirm it in the semi final and then the final. And I believe with Alex and Kirsty only turned 15 and the strength in depth we have Strathmore will be the team to beat for years to come.

SCOTTISH AREA TEAM CHAMPIONSIPS

ANOTHER BUSY SATURDAY

Let's start off with the disappointment of the Scratch League team losing away to Blairgowrie, with Alex and Brad having to play a practice match for P&K before tomorrow's Scottish Area team Championship. Kirsty played her part by winning 5&4 but Tod lost 5&4 and Conor lost 7&6. With a 5 from 6 record we should still finish top of the group and look forward to the semi finals.
The coaching this morning was a lot of fun and was really impressed with Georgie who has practiced so much she is recovering from a blister on her blister !! But is now hitting it 75yds with her 7 iron consistantly. Molly is also showing tremendous improvement hitting her 7 iron 150yds (which is further than I can) Alisdair is keen to do his 2nd certificate as is Josh and Finlay. With a bit more practice on the short game and especially the putting all these players can achieve their goals. I believe we have juniors who can progress through the ranks but I need the support of the parents to make sure they get out there and practice and spend time on the course and not just come to the lessons once a week.
