At Gullane today in the Mackie Bowl Kirsty finished 5th on 1 under (10 birdies over 36 holes) and reduced her handicap to 1. Megan finished tied 22nd and Amy finished 1 shot behind in 24th position. Charlie McKay also achieved his fun handicap of 44 back at Strathmore.

WHAT A SATURDAY

Archie Pattullo achieved his 1st and 2nd Certificates in style with 4 and 6 shots to spare !!! What a tremendous score. He then presented Orley with his 2nd certificate before rushing of to be ring bearer at his uncles wedding. I'm sure he be telling everyone how he got on this morning

Kirsten wins the Junior Presidents Cup and keeps her side of the bargain as I told her she could only win it if she played below her handicap. She had 38 stableford points and reduced her handicap to 19.

Huge welcome to Ryan Prebish who became our 15 new member this year after attending the taster sessions.

I then went to support our scratch league team defend their undefeated record at Auchterarder and the team didn't disappoint. Alex halved his match, Kirsty won 8&6 - 4 under par through 12 and Megan won 4&3. Played 6 won 6. Looking forward to the semi final.

WELL DONE GIRLS

Results from Nick Faldo Series. In the uU21's Kirsty moved up to 2nd place only 2 shots behind the eventual winner. Megan shot her 3rd round of 77 to secure 2nd place and Amy improved her score every day to finish 3rd. What a result individually and for Strathmore Juniors. As you can imagine it's been a long morning working and trying to keep an eye on live scoring. I am so proud of all 3 Girls and their achievements.

TUESDAY UPDATE

Another good day for the Strathmore girls at the Nick Faldo series taking place at the Dukes. Kirsty in the U21's lies 4th only 6 shots off the lead and 2 shots back from 2nd place. In the U16's Megan lies 2nd only 3 behind and Amy lies 4th only 3 shots off 3rd place. Past members are also taking part and are headed by Cormac Sharpe in the U16 who lies 3rd on +10. In the U21's Brad Bannerman +9 made the cut but Michael Brodie +14 missed it by 1. Blair's fun handicap on the wee Course has been calculated at 34 and he is the first to attain it this year, Charlie and Keegan will be next as they both now has 2 cards in. Took out Louis for 9 holes on Lietfie and he confidently attained his 1st Certificate with an easy 9 shots, very impressed and he is another with exceptional potential.

BIG WEEK TEES OFF

Nick Faldo series teed off at the Dukes St Andrews today and this 54 hole event is one of the highlights of the season. Megan has taken a commanding 4 stroke lead in the under 16 Girls section and Amy lies tied 5th. Kirsty is tied 3rd in the under 21 section but unfortunately Alex had to retire due to ill health. What a great start for the girls. Back at Strathmore I took Rhys out for 9 holes on Leitfie and he achieved his 1st Certificate with ease.

NOT JUST ANOTHER SATURDAY BUT SOMETHING SPECIAL

What a superb day today, 3 kids attended a taster session then Blair, Charlie and Orley went our for their level 2 Certificates and with scores of 26, 27 and 29 all 3 achieved it. But highlight of the day was Keegan who was attempting to attain his 1st Certificate, a 6 on the first left him in great position and a superb drive up 9 left him a pitch to a back pin position which he knocked into 4 ft and his 1st putt nearly dropped and left him with a tap in for 4 and at 5 years and 129 days makes him the youngest ever player ever to achieve this. All 4 played some exceptional golf and I am so excited to see what they can achieve.

THINGS JUST ONLY GET BETTER

Another day and the good news just keeps on coming. Junior Bell Trophy second leg against Kinross and taking a 3&2 lead back to Strathmore we fielded a slightly changed team with Flora being replaced by Kieran (agreed by them both) and again with Kinross being able to field only 4 players we knew 2 wins would be enough and a super confident Amy and a determined Kirsten made sure we made the semi finals. I then received a message from Kirsty in Finland to say she had shot 75 to finish joint top Scot in the European Girls Championship.

WHAT A DAY

Brilliant day at Troon in the Final of the Scottish Junior Open,  we shot 31 out 29 back for 60 - 15 under par but unfortunately were 6 shots adrift of the winners !! 2 nett eagles and 11 nett birdies just wasn't enough. Then back to Kinross for the first leg of the Junior Bell Trophy where terrific wins by Amy, Flora and Kieran (w/o)  means we take a 3&2 advantage into tomorrow nights second leg. Left home at 5.45am and home at 10.45pm - long day but loved every minute. Strathmore Juniors still amaze me every time they play - from Kieran's 220yd 3 wood to the the heart of the 18th green at Troon and Kirsten's putt from just off the green for a 4 nett 3 eagle on the 1st to Flora's winning tee shot on 17 at Kinross which was to the top plateau of a two tiered green threading it between 2 bunkers to close out her match. Then when I got home and checked the scores from Finland - Kirsty was top scoring Scot with a 1 over par round of 73 and lies tied 29th. What a day !!!

STILL UNDEFEATED

Kinross were our latest opponents and another great win for Strathmore and our undefeated Scratch League record remains intact. Our 100% matches won record went but very proud of all 3 players. Alex lost 2&1, Megan won 4&3 and Amy won 3&1. Winning at another course is always harder to do as the home players have an advantage but although Alex lost the girls showed great resilience and their battling qualities shone through.

FINALS DAY

Megan took centre stage in the Ladies Final and retained her title with a tremendous display of golf especially her putting which was exceptional. The Junior Scratch final was a close run affair. Alex had been 3 up but lost 12,13, 14 and 15 to find himself 1 down but birdied 16 to square the match.
17 was halved and when he hit his tee shot wide on 18 Amy looked favourite with a tremendous tee shot straight up the middle and long. Alex's 2nd shot was poor but then he played what was probably shot of the day to finish within 18 inches of the hole. Amy just missed her birdie putt and Alex holed his putt to retain his trophy.

SCOTTISH GIRLS AMATEUR

Disappointment as both Kirsty and Amy lost in the Quarter finals 3&1 and 3&2 respectively. Both girls have done tremendously and should be proud of their achievements. Roll on next year. Next up it's finals day on Saturday with Alex and Amy in the Scratch and with Megan qualifying for the Ladies final Kirsten will have to wait before playing in the handicap final. Then Sunday it's Scratch League at Kinross.

FEELING ON TOP OF THE WORLD

Travelled to Aboyne today with Flora, Kieran and Kirsten and all 3 played some amazing golf and we managed an impressive nett 55 to qualify for the final of the Scottish Golf Junior Team event to be held at Troon just before the Scottish Open. Mixed results from the Scottish Boys and Girls Amateur at Scotscraig where Kirsty and Amy won but Alex and Megan lost their matches. Good luck tomorrow for Kirsty and Amy in the Quarter finals.
