LATEST FAMILY FUN DAY

13 youngsters and 4 adults took part today and Cameron, Stuart, Keir and Bob took the honours with a magnificent level par 27. This was the second week on the trot Keir has been on the winning team. Great to see so many out enjoying themselves. A lot of improving swings. Kyle was fitted for his first Hire Set and was delighted with them and his dad was amazed when we fitted him for a pair of Golf shoes from our Free Scheme. His words were “what a great facility for kids”
Got home and another girl has signed up to the Scottish Golf Girls Hub so only 2 spaces left.

STILL JANUARY AND SO MUCH HAPPENING

Another brilliant turnout today for the Family Fun Event, 10 juniors and 10 adults. Scores were very close with 4 shots covering 8 teams. 4th was Megan and Bob, 3rd with a better back 6 was Conan and Jaki, 2nd was Blair and Frankie and 1st was Keir and Iain. I picked up more donations today, 2 sets of clubs with bags, a trolley and a huge bag of golf balls. Emily had outgrown her golf shoes and was able to swap them in our free scheme. And when I got home the Centre phoned to say we had our first new member of 2020, 10 year old Kyle who attended one of our many taster sessions last year. He also needs fitted for clubs and will join our unique Club Hire Scheme. With 7 girls already registered for our Scottish Golf Girls Hub this year is already looking like another record breaker.

FIRST FAMILY FUN EVENT OF 2020

Brilliant turnout, 11 juniors and 7 adults played in our first GolfSixes event of 2020. 6 teams of 3 teed off in a shotgun start and there were some amazing scores. But before we started Keegan became the first Junior this season to join the Club Hire Scheme. He has always had his own sets but after outgrowing another one it was decided that hiring made more sense. Our FREE shoe swap Scheme also did a roaring trade today. Chloe donated her size 3.5 which she had outgrown and we had a great pair of size 5 which fitted perfect. Keir got his first ever pair of golf shoes size 1, which with thick socks also were a great fit, Keegan also got a swap of shoes and Conan donated another pair to keep our stock numbers up. At Strathmore we think of everything to keep golf affordable. FREE golf shoes from our donated stock, FREE golf balls, tees, ball markers, pitch repair tools and a unique Club Hire Scheme which at £25 a year makes so much sense as youngsters grow so quick. Junior Captain Kirsten came along with her dad and whilst we played on Leitfie she went out on Rannaleroch but was in to do the presentation of prizes. In 3rd place was Cammy, Iain and Marcus with 28, 2nd was Fraser, Kian and Dawn with 28 and a better back 6. The winners were Stuart, Keir and Iain with a two under par 25. The Clubhouse was buzzing with happy kids and it was great to catch up with one of last years Junior Captains, Amy, who was down for a family meal and is coming down next week to pay her intermediate membership. This is what Golf is all about, getting kids into golf and retaining them.
