Today our Juniors took a huge stride forward by qualifying to the semi finals of the Bell Trophy. Hannah Robb led out the team and standing on the 8th tee found herself 4 down but battled back to be 1 up after 17 but lost the 18th and the game went up the 19th. Kirsty Brodie had built up a commanding 4 hole lead then lost 4 holes in a row but turned the match around by winning 14,15 and 16 to secure our 1st point on the board. Alex Simpson was always ahead and despite having to give his opponent 14 shots ran out an easy 5&3 winner. With 2 points secured Tod Bannerman who was 2 down with 2 to play , Callum Ewan who lost 16 to be all square and Hannah who holed a six footer on the 19th to take her match to the 20th the result was still in the balance. Despite having 2 points secured we still needed another 1 to win. Tod won 17 to take his game to the last and Callum birdied the 17th to go 1up. The 18th became a log jam when Tod's opponent missed the green and they called Callum through, missing the green right Callum got up and down for a 3 to secure the 1 point remaining for a fantastic win. Although Hannah lost the 20th to a birdie 4 net 3, Tod won the last with a great par to half his match and as we had already secured the 3 points required we agreed to finish the match 3 & 1/2 v 1 & 1/2 .
I cannot be more proud of all 5 players who displayed such great desire and really dug in to secure our semi final place . Well done to you all.
