Scratch League team made their 2012 debut away at Kinross. Michael Brodie led from the front and recorded a tremendous 5&3 win over Scottish Academy player Scott McLeod, Kirsty Brodie (making her debut) not to be out done by her brother recorded an even more impressive 6&5 win. With 3 matches still to be decided it was all to play for. Hannah Robb and Rory Dyce both lost 2&1and it was left to Brad Bannerman who had never been behind in his match but had been pegged back to all square after 14 to see if he could secure the win for the team. Brad showing no nerves won the 15th and after both hitting the green on 16 shared pars and both hit good drives down 17, Brad was first to play and finished just off the back of the green, Jennifer Saxton second shot found the putting surface but also at the back. A brilliant chip and a conceeded putt left Jennifer a difficult 2 putt but she was up to the task and a half in pars took the match to 18. Brads drive split the fairway and a superb iron to 12ft left a 2 putt to secure a well earned victory but Jennifer was not finished and hit her 3rd shot to 3ft. With a crowd now gathered round the green Brad rolled his putt to the hole and Jennifer asked him to mark and after holing out so well all day missed her 3ft to leave a tap in for a great 2up win and a 3&2 win for Strathmore.
I am so proud of how our teams perform and the high quality of golf they produce, they never fail to give their best and the team aspect seems to inspire them.
Special mention to Tod Bannerman and Alex Simpson who made their County debuts today also at Kinross against Lothians. The next generation of our Scratch League team.
A very happy Junior Convenor is looking forward to our next match against Muckhart at Strathmore on Sunday 15th July can't wait !!!!
