A CHRISTMAS CAROL

The Past the Present and the Future - This must rate as one of my proudest nights as Junior Convenor watching not only our current crop of players picking up awards but also our past Juniors. And the future is just as exciting ! I know with the players we have and the talent coming through Strathmore are and will continue to be regarded as the one of the top clubs in P&K (if not the best)

Pictured above are (back left to right) Matthew Bell, Rory Tinker, Brad Bannerman,(front) Michael Brodie and Alex Simpson.

Well done Alex, Michael and Brad you make my job a pleasure not only with your results but also with your attitude both on and off the course. You are a credit to the Club.

Michael picking up another award, what a season !!!

New President Barrie Douglas presents Alex with one of his prizes - this will become a regular occurance.

Our past juniors show their form has continued into the gents.

Unfortunately Kirsty Brodie and Marcus Ryan could not attend but they also won individual prizes.

JUNIOR AGM AND PRIZE GIVING

Another fantastic year for Strathmore Juniors - today we started off with a 9 hole Texas scramble which Brad, Tod and Callum won with a one under round of 28 pipping Michael, Conor and Louise's 29 with Dawn Alex and William in third place with 30. We then had our AGM and prize giving and it is a pleasure for me to stand and talk about all the successes the players have enjoyed - what a great bunch of talented kids we have. I am so proud of this years achievements as our Juniors have certainly made significant progress and with Michael being the P&K stroke play Champion and Order of Merit winner and Alex Simpson winning the U14 Coaching Medal for the 2nd time and following it up by becoming the U14 stroke play Champion they have secured the top individual county prizes for Strathmore. With Marcus winning the U14 Handicap Medal, Brad the U16  Spring meeting, Kirsty the U14 Autumn meeting, Michael the U18 Autumn meeting and along with Callum winning the Junior Coronation Trophy Strathmore have another load of Trophies to collect on Thursday at the County AGM at Craigiehill 7.30pm.With Kirsty's great display finishing joint 2nd at Fortrose in the Scottish U14 and Michael superb win at the Nick Faldo series at Panmure and qualification to Greenbrier our Juniors are reaching new levels all the time and who knows what will be next - I for one can't wait !!!!
I would like to thank all the parents who contributed to the gift's I was presented with today. I appreciate this very much and the messages and kind words written on the card by the juniors make it all worthwhile. I am honoured and privileged to have such great kids to work with.

ALWAYS RESPECT AND LOVE YOUR PARENTS

In life there are at least two people who will give you unconditional love - your mum and dad will always be two of them. Never take this for granted. My mum passed away on Friday and she was my inspiration and her faith gave me the strength to inspire and encourage us to do our best. My mum was always interested in how we were doing and could tell me each week after reading the Courier who had done what. On occasions we need to be inspired and to get "in the zone" and if you believe it can happen it will. Miss you mum, night night.

59 - THE MAGIC NUMBER

Sunday saw Strathmore record what the PGA European Tour have been waiting on for years - a scratch 59.
3-4-3-4-3-5-3-3-2= 30 out
3-3-2-4-4-4-2-4-3= 29 in
25 putts - 13 putts out and 12 putts in.

This score was recorded today by the winner of the Leitfie Links Championship.

I would like to thank Strathmore Juniors for assisting me in achieving this score by repeated practice on Leitfie. I was determined to play well today and dedicate this score to my Mum who is very ill in hospital, she was so proud of her "wee boy" when I visited her in the afternoon.

BUSY WEEK AHEAD FOR MICHAEL AND ANOTHER FIRST

Sunday sees Michael tee up in the Scottish Junior Champion of Champions. The first Strathmore player to do so. This event is by invitation only and players have to have won certain qualifing competitions.(draw below) He also travels to America for the Nick Faldo series final the same night. Our best wishes go with Michael and I know he has the game to cope in both events and do himself proud.
