A very excited Alex called me tonight to inform me he had been accepted into the Academy, I am really pleased for him. His performance, behaviour and attitude both on and off the course is exemplary and he deserves his place and will develope his game to another level - watch this space.

ANOTHER NEW HANDICAP

Benjamin Fischer becomes the latest junior to secure a Congu Club handicap. This playing handicap of 31 means he is only 3 shots away from a full handicap. Benjamin ball striking was very impressive and I expect his handicap to come down very quickly.

The above inter county match. is being played on Sunday 15th September 2013 over the PGA Course at Gleneagles. The first tee-off is at 1.00 pm.

The following rules will apply:

* Players will be under the age of 15 years as at 01/01/13

* Teams will consist of 5 players.

* Each match will consist of one player from each area.

* Scoring will be based on Stableford points off scratch

* The best 4 scores in each team will count.

* In the event of a tie, the 5th score will count

* In the event of a further tie, the decision will be based on card count - back of the first players in the teams involved.

JUNIOR BELL TROPHY SEMI FINAL ENDS IN DEFEAT

Unfortunately today at Alyth Strathmore came up short against Blairgowrie losing 3.5 v 1.5. Marcus won and Conor halved. Tod, Callum and Amy all lost but all 5 did their best and will learn from the experience.

Great to see so many Juniors out practicing tonight - well impressed !!

GEESE ARE BACK

Last year it was the 23rd August the year before the 17th but this year they arrived on the 19th.  

3 MAN TEAM EVENT AT BLAIRGOWRIE

For the 2nd year running Strathmore have finished runners up in this event and if all 3 scores counted again we would have won !!! Great scores by Michael (76), Brad (75) and Alex (79).

ANOTHER HOLE IN ONE

This morning Fergus Barron had a hole in one on the 5th hole on Leitfie playing with Jude Archibald. A well struck pitching wedge did the trick. Well done Fergus - latest member to join the hole in one club !!!!

HOLE IN ONE

Tonight saw Michael Brodie and I book our place in the Gents 4 ball better ball final for the 2nd year running with a 4&3 win including 2 eagles. Michael on the 5th and me on the 13th with a hole in one (my 3rd one ever)  

SCOTTISH UNDER 14's

Fortrose and Rosemarkie golf club held this years under 14 championship and Alex Simpson, Marcus Ryan and Kirsty Brodie made their way north. The boys found the scoring tough but Kirsty took a 2 stroke lead into day 2 but an unlucky start saw her loose the lead and despte some good play she finished tied 2nd 3 strokes back and missed out on a top 3 finish with others having a better 2nd round score. Roll on Bothwell Castle next year.
      

HANDICAP UPDATE

Michael Brodie has added another piece of history by becoming Strathmore Golf Clubs first home member to hold a plus handicap and he has done it whilst still being a Junior. I am so proud of what Michael has achieved and he has just raised the bar another notch.

Alexei Butchart has attained a full congu handicap and has already knocked another stroke off and is playing off 27 with more to come.       

ALEXEI BUTCHART ONLY ONE SHOT AWAY

Had the pleasure of playing 18 holes with Alexei in Wednesdays Gents sweep. Alexei played well and returned a gross 97 net 60 and reduced his playing handicap to 29 and only one shot away from a full congu handicap. His practicing over the winter has paid off and I was very impressed with all aspects of his game. I will be giving him a quick putting lesson before we play next as he could have easily been 6 shots better but as he is not used to our superb greens a quick game of donkey will sort that out.  

GENTS COURSE RECORD EQUALLED

A very excited Michael Brodie has just phoned me to let me know he has just equalled the Gents course record of 65 !!!! 34 out 31 in SUPERB.
