COUNTY STROKE PLAY CHAMPION ADDS ORDER OF MERIT TO HIS CV

At Auchterarder today Michael Brodie shot a gross 68 to win the under 18 section and also become the 2013 Order of Merit champion to add to his earlier success of becoming County stroke play champion - what a season. Another point 3 added to his handicap ensures Michael will finish the season at plus 1. Brad Bannerman came 3rd in the OOM and should be very proud of his achievement  and Strathmore boys taking 1st and 3rd places again confirms how successful Strathmore are at county level. Kirsty Brodie was lowest gross in the under 14 section.

RYDER CUP - THE FUTURE ?

Could this be Michael Brodie predicting his own and next years Europe teams future successes by playing his part in Paul McGinlay's European team which defeated Tom Watson's USA team at Gleneagles the venue of next years Ryder Cup. Michael's "guns" were complemented on by Tom when he boomed a drive past both Captains !! Michael will take huge confidence from this experience and there is more to come - believe me.

GENTS FOUR BALL FINAL

Michael Brodie and myself faced Gents captain Donald Thomson and Stewart Flannigan in tonights final. Michael got us off to the perfect start with a birdie to go 1 up, my par on the second secured a half and was followed by a birdie on 3 put us 2 up. A nett birdie won 4 and another nett birdie halved the 5th. Michael's 2nd birdie on 6 put us 4 up (3 under gross -5 under nett). Par on 7 by Michael puts us 5 up and further pars on 8 and 9 mean we reach the turn 5 up. Donald then birdies 10 and nett birdies 11 to pull it back to 3. I half 12 with a net birdie and 13 with a par. We lose 14 to Stewart's net birdie and are pegged back to 2 up. Michael then produces the shot of the night after driving 30yds short of the 15th green he holes for an eagle to make us dormie and a half on 16 was enough to make us Champions after being runners up last year.

      

GENTS FOURSOMES RESULT

Brad Bannerman with his Uncle Billy won a close run final on the last hole against Marcus Ryan and his Grandad Andy. It was a close match all the way.  

BRAD BANNERMAN'S THIRD ROUND 70 TAKES 2nd PLACE IN PAUL LAWRIE JUG HANDICAP EVENT

Murray Naysmith (Marriott Dalmahoy), the overnight leader, consolidated his position to win the Paul Lawrie Junior Jug competition over three rounds at Blairgowrie's Rosemount Course.

Very windy conditions over the two days made scoring tricky for the 72 players in the starting field and the 41 who made the cut to play today.

Naysmith posted a final aggregate of 212 - four strokes ahead of runner-up Stuart Easton with Calum Fyfe third on 217.

Stephen Roger from Cruden Bay won the handicap event with a net total of 213 (-3) to win by a couple of shots from Brad Bannerman and Lewis Reid (215)
