Hire Scheme - Alex Simpson donated clubs and a trolley, Cath Robertson also donated clubs and George Allan donated a golf club travel bag which we will allow any juniors to use free of charge but will offer its use to any other club members in return for a donation.
Our 25th set of Clubs will be going out on hire this week which is amazing.
Alex is the first to take advantage of our putter swap scheme.
The Bunker donation scheme has passed a landmark with over the £200 being accumulated over 5 months, a huge thank you to all who have donated.

BRILLIANT FUN TONIGHT
20 Juniors turned out tonight including Alex who came straight from a successful job interview, hence the shirt and tie. He has been selected for the Boys Scottish Schools Team to play England at Troon along with Kirsty and Megan who have been selected for the Girls Team. Winning Texas scramble team tonight with a score of 1 under par 28 was Kirsty, Flora, Blair, Charlie and Fraser. Then came the putt off with everyone having one putt from 25ft downhill. Kirsty laid down the mark, Alex did manage to get one closer but with only 2 to go I had said from the start my money was on Archie but when Orley's putt went inside our 2 Internationalists Archie was definitely up against it but he didn't let me down and his putt finished the closest. Brilliant night and so much fun that it was decided to continue this on for a few more Wednesday's

JUNIOR BELL TROPHY SEMI FINAL
Disappointment at Blairgowrie today in a closely contested Bell Trophy semi final. Only Flora won, 3 games went to 18 and one to 17th. This will hopefully be a learning curve for these youngsters. I have always said you have to learn how to lose to then learn how to win and next season the lesson learned today will stand them in good stead as they won't want to experience losing out at this late stage of a competition.

SCRATCH LEAGUE SEMI FINAL
Congratulations to Blairgowrie who after securing a draw last week at Strathmore won the 2 games they required to reach the Scratch League final. Kirsty won her match but Alex and Amy lost. Tomorrow in the Junior Bell Semi final Strathmore take on Aberfeldy/Taymouth at Blairgowrie and hopefully they can do it.

BRILLIANT RESPONSE
Great to see the older juniors out encouraging the younger ones, everyone had so much fun and they are all up for a repeat next week. Hopefully the ones who missed out tonight will want to join in next Wednesday.

IT JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER
Alex Simpson has not only been selected to represent P&K in the Gary Harvey Trophy but has been given the honour of Captaining the Team. Kirsty Brodie has committed her Saturday mornings to assisting Gareth Couzens with the Junior Coaching which is a huge help to me. Both are taking their Captain and Vice Captain roles very seriously and I was personally delighted when they both volunteered along with Megan, Amy, Kirsten and Kieran to assist on the next 2 Wednesday fun Junior nights. This personally means so much to have kids who respect what I do for them and that they want to repay me in some way. I believe you reap what you sow and Strathmore Juniors past and present have proven time after time that if you invest time in their development you get the rewards.

JUNIORS ON TOUR
After winning his semi final against another stalwart of P&K County golf Scott Michie of Kinross huge disappointment for Alex this afternoon as he lost on the 18th hole in a tight final against David Simpson of Crieff. But huge credit for his endeavours this weekend. He is a credit to his parents, P&K County (Gents and Juniors), Strathmore Golf Club and to our Junior Section. He finished runner up which is still truly amazing especially as he isn't carrying a driver in his bag and using a Utilty Club !!
4 of our girls headed to Portlethen today and didn't return empty handed. Megan didn't retain the Scratch Championship as she finished 2nd but had the consolation of becoming North of Scotland Handicap Champion and getting another cut to her handicap now 3.2.

WHAT A RESULT !!!!!
Alex Simpson today produced probably the best match play result ever by a Strathmore Junior by defeating Defending champion and title favourite Glenn Campbell in the quarter finals of the P&K gents match play at Crieff. So proud of this result and he can go into tomorrow's semi finals in great form and with tremendous confidence.

SCRATCH LEAGUE SEMI FINAL FIRST LEG
100% record remains intact but only just. Megan took unwell at school today so Amy stood in at the last minute. Alex led the team out again and coming up the last was 1 down but a superb birdie on the last secured a half. Kirsty won her match 5&4 and Amy who had birdied 15 and 16 to go 1 up lost 17 then lost 18 to a birdie. Tough school better ball 3 under for last 4 holes. Now all to play for a week on Saturday and the carrot is below.
Scratch league and Junior Scratch league Finals at GLENEAGLES, QUEENS COURSE.
Sunday Oct 7th first tee off Gents at 12.40 on Queens followed by Juniors at 13.30. All players, and 2 support staff for each team are invited to a post match meal courtesy of PK County in the Dormy after the finals.
Alex Simpson also donated a set of clubs and a trolley to our scheme.

Amy, Kirsten, Kirsty and defending Scratch Champion Megan bring it on and bring these trophies home, Scratch and Handicap this time. Let's do the double !!!!

SUPER SUNDAY
KIrsten and Megan contested the Junior handicap final today and what a great match it was. Giving away 16 shots is a tall order and Megan found herself 3 down after 5 holes and managed to win the 6th where she didn't have to give a shot, pars on 7,8 & 9 were only good enough for halves so Kirsten was 2 up at the turn. Megan won 10, and parred the next 3 holes for halves then with a superb 5 iron from 180 yds on 14 which led to a birdie the match was squared. Kirsten stayed focused throughout and edged ahead again on 15 and holed a 15ft putt on 16 for what turned out to be a half as Megan's putt slipped agonisingly past the hole. Kirsten then hit a tremendous 5 iron onto the edge of the green pin high and when Megan failed to get up and down she won the match 2&1. As Convenor I was so proud of not only the way both girls played today but the way they conducted themselves on the course. They chatted, laughed had fun and sportingly acknowledged each other's good shots and conceded putts where appropriate.
The good news just keeps on coming. Alex qualified for the P&K Gents match play at Crieff next weekend qualifying at Kinross today and Amy's handicap is down to 6 after yesterday's round !!

NEW MEMBER No 16 DOESN'T TAKE LONG TO MAKE HER MARK
New member number 16 joined yesterday and didn't take long in making an impression. Ellie Scott who had been at my taster session picked up her Clubs from our hire scheme and put them to great use by hitting the 1st green with her tee shot and completing her 1st Certificate with 2 shots to spare !!! What's incredible is that this is the only golf she has played apart from attending something similar at another course last summer. I think we may have discoverd another talented girl - watch this space. Daniel, Fraser and Murray MacCuish also picked up their Clubs and are looking forward to the coaching which starts Monday 14th and Saturday 19th - confirmation letters are on their way. That brings the total sets hired our this year to 23 plus a set of irons and 3 Trolleys. Connan Reid gained his 2nd Certificate easily and will have his handicap on Saturday. Charlie McKay is the first to play Summer League on Leitfie so come on the rest of you. James Lothian and Magnus Fettes not only achieved their 1st Certificates but also achieved their 2nd's. Brilliant night and great to see so many out. Another 5 are joining Dawn and I tonight.

ST ANDREWS JUNIOR OPEN UPDATE
Megan lost her quarter final today and although disappointed was magnanimous in defeat. Jen was 5 under par through 12 and as Megan said herself it was great to watch and she felt she had played well and was only 2 over herself. I am so proud of all that Megan has achieved this week and she will take so many positives forward.
NORTH OF SCOTLAND GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP
