WHAT A START TO THE WEEKEND

Congratulations to Junior Captain Conan Reid who had his first Hole-in-One on the 6th hole today. Playing in the 2nd round of the Gents Club Championship Qualifier his well struck 9 iron from 143yds found the bottom of the cup. Unfortunately as it was in the dip on the green no one saw it go in but when they couldn’t see it,  it was obvious it was in the hole. His score today was good enough to qualify for the Gents scratch knockouts and along with Cameron Redden who also qualified and Angus Palmer, who shot a best of the day gross 73 would have also qualified but he is away on holiday on the finals day and will miss out.
The final Junior Qualifier was played today with Louis Purdie topping the field again. Gus Donaldson playing his second event finished 2nd and Archie Pattullo in 3rd.
The draw for the semi finals are as follows
Scratch
Stuart Duncan v Louis Purdie
Conan Reid v Archie Pattullo
Handicap
Cameron Galloway v Cameron Redden
Jack Stevenson v Keir Reid
So many positives from today. I played with Angus and his short game was phenomenal. His approach shots, chipping around the green and his putting was outstanding. He holed from over 5ft sixes times and his distance control meant a lot of 2 putts. 3 under through 6 was very impressive. Louis winning again is no surprise as his improvements are so impressive and consistent and I believe there is more to come. The potential I have seen over the last couple of weeks means the Strathmore conveyor belt keeps churning out talented youngsters.
Tomorrow is the Bell Salver with our 2 teams having home advantage and can’t wait to see how they do.
