POST FROM YESTERDAY WITH UPDATE

Another busy day in the Butchart household. Second new junior member for 2026 Finlay came along to be fitted for his first hire set. Problem is he’s the first 12 year old who needs adult size clubs which I hadn’t envisaged. As Dawn and I were also doing a taster session for another prospective new member Vikram we have arranged another fitting for him. Vikram really enjoyed his session and shows a lot of potential and will hopefully become new member number three. Tonight I attended the P&K Gents Perth & Kinross County Golf Union prize giving where two of our teams and three of our Strathmore Juniors Golf Section youngsters picked up prizes. Unfortunately only six of them could attend but it was a very proud night for me seeing the look of achievement on their faces. The system we have in place keeps producing talented juniors who keep on proving me right. To top a fantastic day past junior Captain, Scottish Internationalist, PGA professional and one of my favourite doubles partners, Alex Simpson, who has been promoted in his role with TaylorMade sent me a photo of him with Danny Young at the Australian Open. Danny made the cut and is currently tied 29th with the final round tomorrow. Alex is then heading off for a week to TaylorMade headquarters in Carlsbad, California to progress his career further. It’s days like this that make it all worthwhile and it keeps on going.

Today Finlay Dalgleish returned and was fitted for his new hire clubs and the improvements in his swing from yesterday was impressive, he obviously listens and learns. It was only supposed to be a fitting session but Dawn and I can’t help ourselves and probably spent over an hour on grip, stance, set up and swing. Now that he has suitable clubs we believe he can improve quickly.
