Tomorrow The Dukes hosts the re sheduled 2013 event and Michael Brodie has a chance to play competitively with his new custom fit irons he picked up today and I am confident he will get his season off to a flyer. After testing them out I caught up with him on the putting green where he was practising the most important part of the game - I am so pleased that he doesn't forget the basics.
This will stand him in good stead for all that's ahead this year.

HANNAH LEADS THE WAY FOR EMBRY
RIDDLE AT LPGA INTERNATIONAL

Hannah Robb, pictured, a sophomore student at Embry Riddle Aeoronautical University, Florida,  had the lowest individual score of four-over-par 77 in a field of 13 players for the Embry Riddle versus Olivet Nazarene University match over the long and testing LPGA International course at Daytona Beach in Florida.
Hannah learned to play at Strathmore Golf Centre and is a Perthshire and Kinross county player. 
Embry Riddle won the match by an overwhelming margin, 314 to 372. 
 
Hannah quoted "Had great fun at the Eagle tourmanent! Team finished 2nd! 13th individual!"

Iain quoted "I played this course a few years ago and it brings back happy memories of a lovely family holiday" 

CAPTAIN'S DRIVE IN

Captain Callum Ewan got his year off to the perfect start by not only winning the Captain v Vice Captain match against Tod but by finding the putting surface with a perfectly struck shot to Leitfie's first green. Tod at the same time was finding the 9th green with another perfect tee shot and both led their teams well but Callum's 31 was 4 shots clear and Amy and Sam played their parts with some really good shots. Well done to all who played. This Saturday we have another Texas Scramble at 10am for those who fancy it. It's fun and the more the merrier.

SCOTTISH BOY'S - HERE WE COME

Brilliant news Michael Brodie, Brad Bannerman and Alex Simpson have all qualified for the Scottish Boys Championship and by doing so have created another record for Strathmore - 1st time we've had 3 boys competing in the same year. I am very proud and excited as I think all 3 players have great chances of making progress in the event and who knows maybe a Strathmore final.

Scottish Boys Championship - 7 - 12 April 2014

Scotland's national boy's amateur match play championship and one of the SGU's flagship events, providing the traditional kick start to the domestic golf season.

The event attracts the best young Scots from all over the country, with more than 130 different clubs represented last season. Previous winners include former Ryder Cup star Andrew Coltart, European Tour player Steven O'Hara and David Law, who went on to lift two Scottish Amateur Championship titles.

A great event to take part in if you are an aspiring junior golfer!
