WEEKEND UPDATE
Friday night and Saturday morning saw the last 4 groups start their coaching sessions and both Gareth and myself were very impressed by what we have seen this week.
Saturday was the first round qualifier of the Junior Club Championship with Kirsty and Michael Brodie leading the field with 79's (in very difficult conditions)
Both Fergus and Louis Walker have reduced their fun handicaps on Leitfie in the Summer League by 5 and 3 strokes respectively - well done both.
Kirsty Brodie finished 3rd in todays Ballantyne Cup.
I am looking forward to seeing how much improvement all our Juniors can make over the coming weeks and see an exciting season ahead.

ALEX SIMPSON BECOMES PERTH AND KINROSS UNDER 14 COACHING MEDAL CHAMPION 2012
What a start to Alex's season, as I predicted (see post 28/3/12) when Alex won the Scottish Junior Golf Tour event at Monifieth by 4 shots, he followed it up today by becoming the Under 14 Coaching Champion at Blairgowrie scoring a gross 72 winning the Scratch Stableford by 1 point and leading the field by an amazing 3 shots. I was up at 7am to get to Blairgowrie to see our 3 boys tee off. Alex teed off in the first group with Tod Bannerman in the fourth and Cormac Sharpe in the seventh. I knew Alex was having a good round when I seen him skipping down the 7th and his day just got better after a great tee shot on 12th Alex hit a brilliant 2nd shot to 8 feet and holed the putt for a superb birdie setting him up to a great win.
Tod had a great round of 78 nett 59 and finished 3rd Scratch Stableford 4th Scratch and 3rd nett and should be very pleased with his performance.
Cormac (who is only 8) finished 14th nett and will have taken a great deal of out of his experience of playing in his first county event - the first of many.
Well done all 3 and especially to Alex our latest P&K CHAMPION
WELCOME BACK HANNAH
After six months of injury woes Hannah is back playing Golf and managed 18 holes today, great to have her back, and hopefully no more injury problems.

P&K STROKE PLAY TOMORROW AT CRIEFF
Strathmore are represented tomorrow by Brad Bannerman, Michael Brodie and Alex Simpson and we wish all 3 a successful day. Having seen how their games have progressed over the winter I am confident that all 3 can make their mark in what will be their 1st attendance at this event.
RESULT FROM ELIE
Michael Brodie lost the final today 1 down after he lipped out for a birdie on 18 to take the match up the 19th. Michael had won the 1st and was still 1 up at the turn but had to come back from 2 down to take the match to the last. Well done for getting to the final and with a big week coming up I am sure the practice at Elie will stand Michael in good stead.
Kirsty Brodie could not match yesterdays score and finished 3rd equal in the Girls under 14 event.

ALEXEI JETS IN TO SECURE HIS 2nd CERTIFICATE
Despite a very strong wind Alexei didn't have much trouble achieving his 2nd Certificate. Having only played 2 holes on Leitfie the last time he was here and gaining his 1st Certificate and being restricted to practicing on a simulator (it was still snowing in Moscow when he left last Thursday and he hasn't played on grass for months)
After a practice on the putting green and a few hits in the net he was ready to play. A beautiful 6 iron to the heart of the green followed by 2 putts secured an opening par. With some excellent play by the time we came to the 9th Alexei had 12 shots to spare and easily gained his level 2 certificate. I look forward to welcoming Alexei back during the summer holidays when he will be spending 4 weeks at his Grans.
