ALEX SIMPSON BECOMES PERTH AND KINROSS UNDER 14 COACHING MEDAL CHAMPION 2012

What a start to Alex's season, as I predicted (see post 28/3/12) when Alex won the Scottish Junior Golf Tour event at Monifieth by 4 shots, he followed it up today by becoming the Under 14 Coaching Champion at Blairgowrie scoring a gross 72 winning the Scratch Stableford by 1 point and leading the field by an amazing 3 shots. I was up at 7am to get to Blairgowrie to see our 3 boys tee off. Alex teed off in the first group with Tod Bannerman in the fourth and Cormac Sharpe in the seventh. I knew Alex was having a good round when I seen him skipping down the 7th and his day just got better after a great tee shot on 12th Alex hit a brilliant 2nd shot to 8 feet and holed the putt for a superb birdie setting him up to a great win.

Tod had a great round of 78 nett 59 and finished 3rd Scratch Stableford 4th Scratch and 3rd nett and should be very pleased with his performance.

Cormac (who is only 8) finished 14th nett and will have taken a great deal of out of his experience of playing in his first county event - the first of many.

Well done all 3 and especially to Alex our latest P&K CHAMPION
