FINALS DAY

Congratulations to Amy Mitchell who yesterday won the handicap Championship against Callum Ewan. As I was caddying for Dawn in the Ladies final I only caught up with them on the 13th where Amy went 5 up and dormie, both hit long drives down 14 then both hit tremendous 2nd shots to about 25 yards short of the green. Amy was first to go and I was personally delighted when she decided to play a chip and run (a shot she has practised) and using the slope of the green ran the ball down to leave herself a simple tap in. Callum hit his chip short and missed the putt and conceeded the hole. The final was played in great spirit and Frank Moran who was referee was full of praise for both players and the respect the players gave to each other.

In the Gents Scratch final Alex Simpson was up against it from the start as Rory Tinker took a commanding lead but Alex battled away and took the match into the back 9 of their 36 hole final. Dawn Butchart who looks after the junior handicaps won the Ladies Scratch final against ladies captain Sheena Scott. Junior committee member Jackie Moran won the ladies Silver Rosebowl against Lesley Haynes. Junior committee member Keith Ewan lost out to Matthew Bell in the Gents Tankard handicap final.

7 juniors joined me yesterday for a 5 hole Texas Scramble on Leitfie and great fun was had by all. So far we have had 3 events with 2, 5 and 7 attending. I intend to try one more on Tuesday 22nd July at 5.30pm.
