FANTASTIC FRIDAY

Sam and Andrew submitted first cards for WHS Handicaps today. Conan and Stuart played at the Kings James V1 Junior Open. Kirsten played at the Scottish Girls stroke play but will be disappointed to have missed the cut for the last 16 match play after rounds of 83 and 80 but should qualify for the handicap last 16. Cormac playing in the Scottish Boys match play won his last 64 match 2&1 and his last 32 match 3&2 and plays in the last 16 tomorrow. Tonight we held another Skills Challenge and all 5 on the National leader board improved their qualifying chances. James 3rd, Keegan 1st, Archie 2nd, Tarah 1st, Jessica 2nd and Ellie-Marie is still in 4th although she didn’t attend tonight. Met Tom McLevy, an old school friend, today and was able to thank him personally for the generous donation he made of 3 golf bags to our hire scheme. Then I met Rory Tinker who is home before taking up his role as Head Professional at Vattanac Golf resort in Cambodia. Golf certainly can take you places some people only dream of. With Michael Brodie still in New Zealand Caddying and Tod Bannerman in America green keeping and Alexei Butchart currently studying in America soon to be joined by Cormac and Kirsten. Strathmore is where it starts but sometimes not where it ends. As I was leaving the Club tonight Alan Easton who was the reason I got involved in Junior golf was teeing off on the 10th and it made me realise that the role of Junior Convenor can have such an influence on shaping the lives of others. It’s been an amazing week so far but we still have the weekend to go !!
