The 150th Open at St Andrews

Early start and everyone was just about on time although Jon P missed the first photo. 6 car loads headed off with excited juniors and arrived at the Leuchar’s Park and Ride. We caught the first bus and arrived on schedule. We headed for one of the practice areas and was watching Justin Thomas warming up when I was approached by a TV crew to see if we had a couple of juniors willing to be interviewed by Fanny Sunesson the most famous female caddy in the world. As Archie and Tarah got most of us there I nominated them and what a fantastic lady she is. She was fantastic with them, chatted and put them to ease. She also explained about a junior tournament she co hosts with Henrick Stenson in Sweden so who knows we could have another venue to visit in years to come. Then Dame Laura Davies was passing on her way to the Sky Zone and we asked her if she would sign an autograph for the youngsters and she was delighted to oblige, what a star. We then started our 3 session at the Swing Zone and the juniors had so much fun. Some of those waiting met Rick Shiels the golf blogger and Keir was lucky enough to get a selfie with him. Huge respect to Jon Rham who spent so much time with our group including signing John’s shoe !! What a brilliant experience for everyone. Archie and Tarah were also presented with their prizes for winning their age group sessions in the Skills Challenge. All home safe and sound.
