JUNIORS MAKE GENTS KO FINALS
Callum Ewan and his dad Keith have made the Gents Foursomes Final by beating fellow junior Brad Bannerman and his Uncle Billy McGregor in the semi final and last night Junior Captain Michael Brodie and myself won our semi final in the 4 Ball Better Ball. Getting to finals seems to be becoming a habit for our juniors.
And continuing their winning ways is a great confidence booster and the form they are all showing is a credit to the hard work and practice they put in

SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICFRANKIESENDSTHETEAMBALLISTIC
Today saw Strathmore take on Alyth in the Junior Bell Trophy semi final at Rosemount, Blairgowrie. Alex Simpson led the team out but found himself up against it and lost 5&3 , Tod Bannerman 2 down after 2 fought back to square his match but his opponent then turned on the style and won 5&4 , Callum Ewan stayed focused and won his match 4&2 and Cory Miller squared the tie by winning 4&3 this left Frankie Henvey making his debut with the responsibility to win the match. With Frankie 1 up through 16 both missed the green left and with a back right pin position he was left with a near impossible shot but played an unbelievable recovery to finish pin high and 2 putted for a great half. With a big crowd and nerves jangling it came to the last hole with Frankie only needing a half , both players were on the green with putts to secure victory and he held his nerve and his first putt finished 18 inches above the hole and his opponent left his putt short and missed the return to leave Frankie two for it and he sent his team mates ballistic by holing out and winning 2 up. I think I might have a few more grey hairs and may have to attend the doctors for a blood pressure check before next Sundays Final at the Queens Course Gleneagles where we will play Craigiehill who won their match against at Dunkeld 4 & 1/2 v 1/2 against Pitlochry. I know our team will give 100% and can't wait to see how they can surprise me next !!!
What a superb group of Juniors we have and it is a privilege to see them progress and have the success they so richly deserve and it's all due to the support the Centre gives to the Junior Section .

SCRATCH LEAGUE SEMI FINAL TO BE PLAYED SUNDAY 9TH SEPTEMBER AT NEUTRAL VENUE
We now know who we meet in the semi final and it gives us a great chance to avenge last years defeat in the final against Blairgowrie "A" at a venue to be confirmed. We have a stronger squad this year and Blairgowrie don't and with a 100% record in the qualifying stages and having already beaten Blairgowrie "B" 5 v 0 the confidence of our team is "through the roof" and I am very confident of a return trip to Gleneagles for the final.
Auchterarder take on Crieff in the othe semi final.
To think it was only 4 years ago when we started entering County team events and this year we are the only Club in Perth and Kinross with teams in the semi finals of both the Scratch League and the Junior Bell Trophy.

BUZZING !!!!!
After last nights visit from Eve Muirhead and the tremendous feedback I have received from the juniors and their parents and friends. Tonight I attended the junior coaching and the place was "Buzzing" We had 3 NEW members at coaching and the ones who took part last night want to know when the next event is taking place.
Sunday see's our Scratch League team take on Blairgowrie at home and with Michael Brodie, Brad Bannerman, Callum Sinclair, Rory Dyce and Alex Simpson taking to the course I expect a home victory.
Next Sunday we face Alyth in the semi final of the Junior Bell Trophy at Blairgowrie and our team will be led by Alex Simpson, Tod Bannerman, Callum Ewan, Cory Miller and Frankie Henvey and with such a strong team I look forward to accompanying them to the final at Gleneagles for Strathmores first attempt to be Junior Bell Champions.
I am so pleased to be involved in this exciting time for Strathmore and as I keep saying Strathmore Juniors keep surprising me and with the younger players coming through I know things will only get better.
PS Met Lorraine Norman on her way back from hospital , she is still sore but with 6 weeks rest should be back behind the desk and I passed her our best wishes.

OLYMPIAN EVE MUIRHEAD VISITS STRATHMORE
Strathmore Golf Centre kindly presented Strathmore Junior Section with new Team Colours for all our inter club, county and Scratch League matches. Eve Muirhead took time out of her very busy schedule to come along and make the official presentation. Eve spent a great deal of time with around 30 juniors who came along for a question and answer session then on to play a Texas scramble. Eve who is the current P&K Golf Champion is also an olympian curler whose achievements to date are Scottish Champion 2009,2010 and 2012. World Junior Champion 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011. She has appeared in 4 European Champions 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, four World Championship appearances 2009, 2010 2011 and 2012 and of course her olympic appearance in 2010. Eve has also been BBC Scotland Young Sports Personality of the Year in 2009 and P&K Sports personality of the year 2012. In light of these achievements, Eve was the perfect person to explain to the juniors the dedication required to reach the top of your chosen sport.
Following the question and answer session Eve came out on the course to spend some time with all the juniors who played a Texas Scramble.
We are indebted to Eve for coming along in her free time to meet our juniors and we hope that Eve's very infomative talk will inspire all our juniors to reach their own golfing goals.
Many thanks again to Strathmore Golf Centre for the kind donation and all you juniors for coming along and enjoying the night.
Below is a slide show of the evening where Eve signed golf balls as prizes and the winning team was Alex Simpson, Tod Bannerman, Josh Eddington, Amy Mitchell and Cameron Fraser with 33bih, 2nd place was Rory Dyce, Cory Miller, Louise Bloor, Fergus Walker and Louis Davies 33 3rd Callum Sinclair, Kirsty Brodie, Ben Anderson, Cormac Sharpe and Sadie Sangster.

UPDATE FROM ST ANDREWS JUNIOR OPEN
First out today was Kirsty who was never down in her match against No 1 seed Sophie Bennett of Southport Old Link and won convincingly 4&2 and tomorrow meets Mirren Fraser of Powfoot in the semi final at 8.40. Great start to the day for Strathmore
Unfortunatley Brad lost out to Thomas Godfrey of Fulford Heath and should be proud of reaching the scratch KO stages at his first attempt , well done Brad.
Ross also lost out to Blair Carnegie of Dunblane New but again should be proud of his excellent score yesterday and being seeded 3, well done Ross.
We wish Kirsty good luck and she can use her match play experience gained with the Junior Bell, Junior Scratch and Ladies Scratch League teams to help her in tomorrows semi final.
Michael scored an impressive 38 stableford points and Hannah returned 29 in the handicap competitions.
Disappointment for Kirsty who lost out in the semi final 4&3 but well done in getting so far.

Strathmore are represented tomorrow in the KO Draws by Brad Bannerman, Kirsty Brodie and Ross Dallas .
In The Merchants Cup which was presented by the St Andrews Merchants Association to recognise the scratch winner of the 18 hole qualifying and match play competition. A recent winner in 2005 was Chris Wood, now a successful participant on the European Tour. Brad Bannerman takes on Thomas Godfrey of Fulford Heath at 7.56am and 40 minutes later Ross Dallas takes on Blair Carnegie of Dunblane New. Having 2 players in the 32 strong field is AMAZING.
Kirsty Brodie has also qualified as one of the 8 players with the lowest nett scores failing to qualify for the Scratch Golf Monthly Trophy and will play for the Girls’ Open Quaich in handicap match play and takes on Sophie Bennett of Southport Old Link at 7.20am.
Good luck to our 3 matchplay contestants tomorrow and also to Michael Brodie and Hannah Robb who both will compete in the Boys handicap stableford competition for the David Ayton Cup and the Girls handicap stableford competition for the Links Trust Quaich both which will both be played on the Strathtyrum Course.
For full Draws see below, only the top end of the girls draw is showing.

ST ANDREWS JUNIOR OPEN 2012
Brad Bannerman is the 1st Strathmore Junior to return his score today and wow what a score. 71 only 1 over par !!!
St Andrews - Eden Course - Medal Tees
Obviously his form from yesterday has continued in spectacular fashion !!!!
Please also note my comments from yesterday stating "nothing surprises me about what our Juniors achieve" and the next day Brad proves me right again
Hannah Robb is next to finish with a respectable 81 after being level par through 7
St Andrews - Strathtyrum Course - Medal Lds
Next up Kirsty Brodie who recovered from a poor start , 6 over through 5 , then steadied the ship to be only 2 over through the next 13 holes to return a very good 79
St Andrews - Strathtyrum Course - Medal Lds
What a score from Ross Dallas who certainly recovered from his last hole defeat last night at Crieff with a brilliant 2 under par 68 which puts him joint 2nd only 2 strokes off the lead. What a superb opening day , just keep on proving me right.
St Andrews - Eden Course - Medal Tees
Michel Brodie will be disappointed in missing out joining Ross and Brad in the top 32 Merchants Cup Scratch knock out stages with a 76
St Andrews - Eden Course - Medal Tees
Good luck to all players and I will post the match play draw when it becomes available and hopefully Ross and Brad can avoid each other.
Michael will take part in a handicap stableford competition for the David Ayton Cup, only open to non-qualifiers for the match play competitions, which will be played on the Strathtyrum Course with full handicap allowance .
