Michael Brodie and I played Scott Thomson and Chris Flannigan today in what must be Strathmores lowest scoring match. We lost the 1st to a par, halved the 2nd in pars, Michael and Chris both birdied 3rd , Michael won the 4th with a birdie , I eagled the 5th to put us 1up, Scott and Michael both birdied the 6th to half, 7 and 8 were halved in pars but Scott had an spectacular 3 on 9 after nearly driving out of bounds and hitting a superb recovery onto the green and then holing a 40 footer to square the match at the turn (better ball 6 under)
We halved 10th in pars , Michael birdied 11 to put us 1 up and after he hit the 12th green in 2 pin high , Scott hit his 2nd to 4 foot , Michael lipped out and Scott holed his putt for eagle and followed that up with a birdie on 13 to reverse our lead. 14 was halved in bogeys 15 in pars and then Scott hit the par 4 16th green with his tee shot and secured another birdie we could not match. Chris then put his tee shot within 6ft on 17 and despite both of us also hitting the green we could not find a 2 and Chris holed out for his birdie and a 3&1 victory. We played out 18 and Scott did have a putt for an eagle and a betterball 59 but had to settle for a birdie. What a match and although we are disappointed to lose we will be back next year for another go.

Michael performance today, especially with his putter, was tremendous and he should put our first point on the board in tomorrows Scratch League Final.
