Scratch league 2nd match and a tough one away at Pitlochry. Michael Brodie led out the team but met an inspired opponent who was 5 under par after 14 (despite 2 bogies) amazing scoring. Kirsty Brodie was 4 up but her opponent pegged her back back and she found herself 1 down with 2 to play but a few encouraging words were enough to see her win 17 and secure a good par on 18 for a half. Alex Simpson had a great 4&3 win and debutant Tod Bannerman also had a great 2&1 win which left another debutant Marcus Ryan to see if we could get something from his match. He had never been behind in his match until the 15th and just failed losing out 2&1 but I would have taken a draw before the match so a fair result. I think we need Muckhart to win against Crieff and then go to Crieff and win to reach the semi finals.
Whilst out on the course I received a call from a very excited Amy Mitchell who had broken through the 100 barrier for the first time with a spectacular 93!!! and in her words "it could have been better - putting !"
Sitting at our after match meal tonight it was great to be part of the banter between the players and it was obvious to me that Pitlochry and Strathmore should both be very proud that their players can play competitive golf and bring their mutual respect and obvious friendship back to the table. This is what golf should be.
