HANDICAP SEMI FINALS AND I COULD HAVE BEEN WATCHING THE SCRATCH

Captain Callum Ewan was up against top seed Conor Hughes and Marcus Ryan was playing number 2 seed Amy Mitchell. Marcus playing off 15 was giving Amy 5 shots and got off to a perfect start - par (up and down from the green side bunker), par, birdie, par (up and down from behind the road) to go 4 up after 4. Meanwhile the other match was a close affair with no shots and Callum was 1 up at the turn. Amy stopped the rot on the 5th with Marcus failing to get up and down from the back fringe after being there in 2 and they halved the 6th in 4's. Marcus was level par after 6 and Amy still 4 down. With Marcus missing the fairway on 7, losing a ball on 8, and missing the fairway on 9 Amy's straight hitting and perseverance took her to the turn only 1 down. Callum had turned the screw and was 3 up after 13 and when I got back to the 10th Marcus was lipping out for a birdie whilst Amy's reply just missed on the low side. When Amy found an unplayable off the 11th it allowed Marcus to go back to 2 up. Connor who had given  himself a chance found himself dormie down on 17 and despite finding the middle of the green Callum from off the green closed it out and secured his place in the final. Amy won 12 with a great par and drew level with a conceded 3 on 13. 14 was halved and with Amy winning 15 with a conceded 3 and a superb 8 iron to 8ft on 16 and Marcus 3 putting it was now dormie and by winning 17 it will be Amy and Callum who contest the final on the 12th of July. Congratulations to the finalist and commiserations to Conor and Marcus and what a final we have to look forward to.
