WHAT A START TO THE SEASON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AMAZING - I TOLD YOU SO.

Michael Brodie today became Perth & Kinross County Stroke Play Champion. A superb round of one under 71 gave Michael a 1 stroke victory. Our season couldn't have got off to a better start. Recent winners include Callum McGuigan, Allan Easton, Connor Neil and Paul McPhee. I am so please for Michael as his all round game has improved hugely over the last year and being Number 1 seed for the match play I'm sure no one will be looking forward taking him on over his home course. I believe Michael can repeat Angus Tester of Crieff the last player to do the double in 2008.

Brad Bannerman finished 3rd with a 73 but unfortunately cannot take part in the knockout stages. Alex Simpson finished 14th and plays 3rd seed and Tod Bannerman is 1st reserve.

Next Sunday's match play draw -
Game 1 Michael Brodie (Strathmore) v Ian Hill (Muckhart)
Game 2 Callum McGuigan ( Comrie) v Callum Graham (Crieff)
Game 3 lan Christie (Alyth) v Alex Simpson (Strathmore)
Game 4 Russell Malcolm (Muckhart) v John Cowan (Pitlochry)
Game 5 Scott McLeod (Kinross) v Matthew Scott (Craigiehill)
Game 6 Ogilvie Robertson (Kinross) v Jonathan Dunn (Auchterarder)
Game 7 Ross White (Muckhart) v Blair Stephen (PItlochry)
Game 8 Grant Stewart (Pitlochry) v Alastair Wood (Auchterarder

Todays Junior competition had some amazing scores which will be posted tomorrow due to a Club 2000 computer problem. But watch this space - Ben nett 51, Conor nett 64.

Amy Mitchell has now played her 2nd card for Handicap and is now looking at 39 a further 3 strokes off and 3 nearer to the magic 36. Kirsty was well impressed !!!

I cannot express enough my gratitude to our Juniors for making my job as convenor so much fun. I love seeing the progress they are making and get such a buzz from their successes. We are only one week into the season - a County Champion, new single figure handicapper, 2 players with huge handicap reductions and a player whose 1st handicap could be a full one!!!

Roll on tomorrow. Early start - Alex defends the Under 14 Coaching Medal title at Blairgowrie and after qualifing for the match play with the big boys today I look forward to seeing him make history.
Marcus Ryan also takes his place in the field along with away player Cormac Sharpe.

I have so much faith in our players and their ability and we have now built up a " never give up never say die" attitude that goes all the way through the section.
