KIRSTY BRODIE MAKES STRATHMORE HISTORY

It gives me tremendous pleasure to announce that 13 year old Kirsty Brodie (Strathmore) has been selected to represent Scotland at this years SLGA Under16's Championship at Strathmore Golf Centre. She becomes the first Strathmore player to represent their country at any level and our best wishes go to Kirsty for a successful start to her Scottish career. When I became convenor I hoped we could achieve certain goals but these have been surpassed time and time again.

The Championship is played over 2 days on 10th and 11th April. Although an individual tournament there is also a Team Event. Teams from England, Ireland, Wales, Italy and Germany to name a few will contest for the trophy. Two teams have been entered by Scotland and they are as follows:

Team 1: Shannon McWilliam (Aboyne), Hazel MacGarvie (Ladies Golf Club, Troon), Claire Robertson (Carnoustie Ladies)
Team 2: Kirsten Brown (Strathaven), Kirsty Brodie (Strathmore), Charlotte Munro (Gullane)
Reserves: Mirren Fraser (Powfoot), Joanne Free (Gullane)

Below is a photo of the recent warm weather coaching trip Kirsty attended in Spain.

Troon Ladies have two players in the squad in Emma Hale and Hazel MacGarvie and the other five selected are Emily Dalgetty (Glencorse), Shannon McWilliam (Aboyne), Kirsty Brodie (Strathmore), Kirsten Brown (Strathaven) Charlotte Munro (Gullane) and Claire Robertson (Carnoustie Ladies).
With a growing number of the top Scots heading to universities in America, the SLGA is concentrating on the development of the promising young players.
