THE FUTURE OF SCOTTISH GIRLS GOLF IS IN SAFE HANDS

Strathmore juniors had the pleasure of hosting a match against 6 of the best from the girls SLGA foundation squad (including our own Kirsty) and to give them a chance to practise for the forthcoming Scottish under 16 Championship. Our 6 boys did themselves proud but were playing the cream of Scotland's girls and what talent was on show. Alex looked bemused when he told me on the 4th tee he personally was 1 under par and 2 down ! the standard of golf was so high that birdies were sometimes only good enough for halves. The girls won all 3 matches but our boys gave a good account of themselves and will learn from the experience and what a great way to warm up for the season ahead. On behalf of Strathmore I would like to wish the girls every success and know they will have benefited from today's matches. I would also like to thank Dawn for 4 years ago persuading the SLGA to lower the age of girls they were developing,as obviously as today proves that decision not only was correct one but one that for years to come will see Scottish girls golf develop and bring through more and more great players.
After the success of today I have offered to make this an annual event to assist the girl's and give our juniors a test against the best before the season starts.
Good luck Charlotte, Clair, Hazel, Kirsten, Kirsty and Shanon.
