If you go out on the course don't go home and start writing your Xmas lists just yet. We are not out of April yet and we have WINTER GREENS being prepared !! The 11th and 16th. Maybe the green staff know something we don't ?

LATEST SCRATCH LEAGUE RESULT
Tonight we were away to Auchterarder and our players did themselves proud with a tremendous win giving us the perfect away result and our 100% record remains intact.
Brad Bannerman won 7&5 v Campbell Watt
Alex Simpson won 4&3 v Murray Stevenson
Kirsty Brodie won 6&5 v Harry Clark
Brad was very consistant and was level par through 13, Alex was playing blind - left his laser device at home but still managed to judge it ok and Kirsty's bunker play was a joy to watch - twice got up and down to win holes, impressive stuff.
Next week it's off to Pitlochry and a similar result would put us in a very strong position with our next 2 matches being at home.

THE FUTURE IS SAFE
We experienced every type of weather tonight - snow, sleet, hail, rain, wind and sunshine! But it didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the juniors attending the coaching. All 3 groups were impressive but non more than the new members. Dominika Iglinski and Naomi Themessl-Huber who became the lastest members to benefit from our club hire scheme (pictured below with with their new sets) and have improved dramatically, last week both girls who had never swung a real club were struggling to hit the ball but this week were consistantly hitting it between 50 and 75 yards.
Georgia McKay who has a very natural swing will become a very good player quickly as will James Bonar, both are ready to get certificates and fun handicaps and James Lothian who hasn't played for 2 years surprised himself by hitting a lot of impressive shots and these 5 along with Matthew and Finlay Wilson and Georgie Learmonth will hopefully become our next generation of top juniors.

CONOR HUGHES CONTINUES HIS GREAT FORM
Today at the P&K Spring meeting Conor Hughes finished 2nd nett in the u18 age group beaten by a better back 9. His early season form has been very impressive and with this sort of consistency I envisage a great season for him.
RESULTS
Last Saturday was the 1st qualifier for the Club Championship and some amazing scores Alex Simpson and Tod Bannerman returned 76's and Tod's nett 65 knocked a shot off his handicap. Megan Ashley scored a very impressive and steady 81 nett 66 (nett 65 sss differential) and took 2 shots off her handicap reducing it to 13 ! What a start to her season. Conor Hughes 85/72 Amy Mitchell 87/73(72) Brad Bannerman 78/75 and Marcus Ryan 89/76 made up the rest of the field.
Yesterday's Summer league was led by Conor 85/72, Megan 87/74(73) Alex 78/75 Kirsty Brodie 81/75(74) and Amy 95/81(80)
3 new members attended the coaching this morning brothers Matthew and Finlay Wilson and Georgia Learmonth and all of the have great potential.
We are now up to 8 new members - 4 girls and 4 boys.
Can't wait to see how our players get on at Dunning today. Alex has had to pull out due to Scottish Squad commitments and Marcus due to ill health. But I'm sure the other 5 will come up with the goods.

SPRING MEETING AND UNDER 14 CHAMPIONSHIP
Dunning hosts the above event on Sunday and we have a strong contenders in all 3 age group sections.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Know your yardages and more importantly know how far you have to hit the ball on every shot. If you get both of theses correct you will lower your scores - guaranteed
ANOTHER FIRST FOR STRATHMORE AND CONOR HUGHES
Yesterday Conor Hughes won the inaugural Perth Academy Golf Championship at Craigie Hill winning by 5 points. Great early season form.

AGE IS ONLY HOW OLD YOU FEEL
Last night when Dawn and I were playing the 5th with Amy Mitchell we were discussing how different age groups regard what age old is. Amy (being politically correct) suggested 70 was old. I remember at her age thinking 30 was old then 40 then 50 but the closer I get to 60 I am starting to think Amy is wrong and 80 is old. And today in the Senior Open at Strathmore I rolled back the years and shot a level par 70 and picked up £100 in prize money. When I was born my Dad was 50 and I believe that my younger sister and me kept him young so I think that is why I still enjoy my role as Junior convenor so much as it keeps me going and I enjoy the banter and seeing the juniors having so much fun playing the game.

GIRL POWER
Invited Amy Mitchell to join Dawn and I for a game tonight and we were both very impressed with her all round game especially her driving, straight and very long. I did identify a couple of areas she could work on and can see her handicap reducing very soon. As we came off the course we met Flora McGregor and new member Dominika Iglinski out practicing. Last night I saw Kirsty Brodie walking to the course carrying her clubs for a practice session. Power to the girls !

BUSY FEW DAYS
Saturday I had to go to Gleneagles in my role as P&K under 16 team manager then back to Strathmore for the first round of the Club Championship qualifiers. Tod Bannerman and Alex Simpson led the scratch with 76's and Tod and Megan Ashley led the handicap with nett 65's (Megan nett 66 for handicap purposes) both reduced their handicaps Tod 11 to 9.6 - nearly single figures! and Megan from 15 to 13.4. Brilliant scoring and both these players showed tremendous consistency and I have high hopes that both will be single figure players very soon and Megan can soon become the latest member of the 70's Club.
Sunday up early and off to watch Brad Bannerman and Conor Hughes in the P&K match play semi final at King James VI. Was very impressed with both boys play particularly Conor who managed to take the game to the 16th green before losing out 3&2, this is a scratch competition and if handicap he would have received 10 shots. Brad played Andrew Gibson in the final and what a match it tuned out to be. Better ball of 7 under - including 2 holes halved in birdies. Andrew single putted 6 times between 2nd and 8th and Brad stayed with him and squared the match by winning the 9th. He then won 3 on the bounce to take a commanding lead before Andrew's putter again started to work again and a birdie, par, birdie run again squared the match. Brad was 1 down after 17 but squared again on 18 so they set off up the 19th. Brad had a great chance to finish it off but again Andrew holed out and it took to the 21st hole before Brad lost out but what a match.
Monday and the Coaching sessions begin 15 in 3 different groups. Worked with Megan on her yardages and welcomed 4 new members - James Bonar, Naomi Themessl-Huber, Dominika Iglinski and Georgia McKay. Was very impressed with them all and look forward to seeing them progress. Naomi and Dominika also took advantage of the club hire scheme.
This Saturday we welcome another 3 new members - our success is even bringing members of other clubs to Strathmore proving again that we are the most successful Junior section in Scotland !!!!
Finally our first junior who turned pro Rory Tinker has just qualified in 7th place today at Crieff for the Scottish PGA Championship at Gleneagles from the 3rd to 6th May, so it proves playing junior Bell trophy and scratch league can help you all reach your goals.
My expectations are getting bigger as our successes continue and I believe that there is no limits to what our Juniors can achieve !!

P&K MATCH PLAY
Tomorrow Brad Bannerman and Conor Hughes tee it up in the semi final and guarantee Strathmore a final spot. I expect a good match and may the best player on the day win through. I know both players will do their best and believe we can retain this trophy at Strathmore. Best wishes to both boys
