BUSY FEW DAYS

Saturday I had to go to Gleneagles in my role as P&K under 16 team manager then back to Strathmore for the first round of the Club Championship qualifiers. Tod Bannerman and Alex Simpson led the scratch with 76's and Tod and Megan Ashley led the handicap with nett 65's (Megan nett 66 for handicap purposes) both reduced their handicaps Tod 11 to 9.6 - nearly single figures! and Megan from 15 to 13.4. Brilliant scoring and both these players showed tremendous consistency and I have high hopes that both will be single figure players very soon and Megan can soon become the latest member of the 70's Club.
Sunday up early and off to watch Brad Bannerman and Conor Hughes in the P&K match play semi final at King James VI. Was very impressed with both boys play particularly Conor who managed to take the game to the 16th green before losing out 3&2, this is a scratch competition and if handicap he would have received 10 shots. Brad played Andrew Gibson in the final and what a match it tuned out to be. Better ball of 7 under - including 2 holes halved in birdies. Andrew single putted 6 times between  2nd and 8th and Brad stayed with him and squared the match by winning the 9th. He then won 3 on the bounce to take a commanding lead before Andrew's putter again started to work again and a birdie, par, birdie run again squared the match. Brad was 1 down after 17 but squared again on 18 so they set off up the 19th. Brad had a great chance to finish it off but again Andrew holed out and it took to the 21st hole before Brad lost out but what a match.
Monday and the Coaching sessions begin 15 in 3 different groups. Worked with Megan on her yardages and welcomed 4 new members - James Bonar, Naomi Themessl-Huber, Dominika Iglinski and Georgia McKay. Was very impressed with them all and look forward to seeing them progress. Naomi and Dominika also took advantage of the club hire scheme.
This Saturday we welcome another 3 new members  - our success is even bringing members of other clubs to Strathmore proving again that we are the most successful Junior section in Scotland !!!!
Finally our first junior who turned pro Rory Tinker has just qualified in 7th place today at Crieff for the Scottish PGA Championship at Gleneagles from the 3rd to 6th May, so it proves playing junior Bell trophy and scratch league can help you all reach your goals.
My expectations are getting bigger as our successes continue and I believe that there is no limits to what our Juniors can achieve !!
