STRATHMORE MAKE A SPLASHING START IN THE JUNIOR BELL

We got off to a winning start and I am very proud of all our players. Callum Ewan who was last out led from the 1st and was never in danger and recorded a great 5&3 win. Alex Simpson found himself 3 down after 4 but won 7 holes in a row from the 6th to turn his match around and closed it out 5&3. Tod  Bannerman unfortunately lost out 6&5 against a very on form opponent and had no complaints. With us needing a win from one of the other 2 matches still on the course Kirsty Brodie who had never been behind was all square going up the last but found a bad lie in the green side bunker and failed to get out 1st time and lost 1 down. Debutant Marcus Ryan was not only giving away 5 years but 7 shots and had been 2 up then 2 down and was 2 up after 15 before losing 16 and 17 and all was on the last hole. Marcus held his nerve and played a great chip to secure the victory for Strathmore. We now have a 3v2 lead to take to Kinross next Saturday for the 2nd leg.

With reference to the splash if anyone has a snorkel and flippers could they contact Kirsty who will pinpoint the area of the pond on the 6th where her wedge landed after it slipped from her hands !!

Gareth and I spoke before the team teed off today and discussed that the professional approach our players make in their preparation is very impressive. They do their exercises and go through their routines and are ready to play.

Conor Hughes playing the Summer League returned a gross 91 nett 64 and his 3rd consecutive cut which is another record !!

Congratulations to Michael Brodie who has been selected to represent P&K in the Dunfermline Building Society Scottish Boys Area Team Championship at Prestwick St. Cuthbert Golf Club on Sunday 9th June.

The team is

Callum Mcguigan
Steven Young
Ross White
Michael Brodie
